(Photo = tvN) Episode 3 of tvN’s 20th-anniversary special “Brilliant Because We’re Together: Goblin 10th Anniversary Trip,” which aired on the 11th, featured Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Go-eun, Yoo In-na, Kim Byung-chul, Lee El, and Park Kyung-hye hosting a 10th-anniversary party in Gangneung.
That day, the cast held a “Goblin 10th Anniversary Quiz Contest” around a bonfire. With Yoo In-na serving as the host, questions about the show’s trivia, famous lines, and key scenes were posed one after another. Gong Yoo and Kim Go-eun displayed a strong competitive spirit, while Lee Dong-wook drew attention by correctly identifying the premiere date and the show’s peak viewership rating.
Through the quiz, iconic scenes were revisited, including Kim Shin and Ji Eun-tak’s kiss in the buckwheat field, Sunny and the Grim Reaper’s first encounter on the overpass, the graduation scene where the Three Spirits embrace Ji Eun-tak, Park Joong-heon’s final moments, and Kim Shin’s marriage proposal.
Behind-the-scenes stories shared by the actors were also revealed. Sunny’s gesture of firing a gun with her hand originated from Lee Dong-wook’s improvisation, while Gong Yoo and Kim Go-eun recalled filming the finale scenes in Canada before they fully understood the entire story.
Gong Yoo described the scene where Ji Eun-tak weeps as she bids farewell to Kim Shin as “the coldest moment of my entire career.” Kim Go-eun explained that, thanks to Director Lee Eung-bok’s consideration, she was able to focus on her emotional performance even in the bitterly cold conditions. The cast credited the strong teamwork between the actors and production staff as the key to enduring the challenging filming conditions.
In the quiz segment, Kim Go-eun emerged as the ultimate winner. She wrapped up the party by sharing the Hanwoo beef she received as a prize with the other cast members.
Video messages from actors who couldn’t attend the event followed. Yoon Kyung-ho recalled Gong Yoo, who had encouraged him when he was nervous during the first shoot, saying, “‘Goblin’ is a work that has received immense love, as if it had saved the nation in a past life.” Yeom Hye-ran congratulated the cast, saying, “Every day I spent with ‘Goblin’ was wonderful.”
Jo Woo-jin described *Goblin* as “a drama that’s still ongoing” and expressed hope for a reunion to mark its 20th anniversary. Yoo Seung-jae expressed his hope to wait for a Season 2 if it were to be produced, and Jung Hae-in sent a message saying he was happy and honored to have been part of the show.
The video message that resonated the most came from Kim Seong-gyeom, who played Chairman Yoo. When Kim Seong-gyeom greeted the cast with, “Sir, it’s been 10 years since we last met,” the actors’ eyes welled up with tears of joy. Kim Seong-gyeom expressed his affection to Gong Yoo, saying, “Even after so long, it feels like I see you every day.”
Gong Yoo replied, “I was completely surprised because I didn’t expect to see you. It’s so good to see you looking so healthy.” Yoo In-na added to the emotional moment by saying, “Even 20 or 30 years from now, Oppa Gong Yoo will forever be our Goblin.”
The final episode of “The Goblin 10th Anniversary Trip” will air on the 12th at 9:10 p.m.
