Episode 4 of the KBS2 Saturday-Sunday drama “The Perfection of Marriage,” airing at 9:20 p.m. on the 12th, depicts a standoff involving a gun as Kang Tae-ju (played by Namgoong Min) visits his in-laws’ home.

“The Perfection of Marriage” is a crime thriller depicting a man’s struggle to confront criminals in order to rescue his wife, who has been kidnapped just as he is about to divorce her. It is directed by Kim Jung-hyun and Kim Min-tae, with a screenplay by writer Jeong Jae-ha.

Episode 3, which aired on the 11th, depicted Kang Tae-ju’s escape from the police station to meet Lee Soo-hyung (played by Park Byung-eun). Kang Tae-ju was questioned by the police after being identified as a suspect in the kidnapping of his wife, Go Se-yoon (played by Lee Seol), based on evidence and circumstantial evidence. Although he maintained his innocence, he slipped out of the police station and rushed toward Lee Soo-hyung.

The scene of Kang Tae-ju being questioned by the police recorded the episode’s highest per-minute viewership rating of 7.3%. According to Nielsen Korea, the nationwide household viewership rating was 5.3%, an increase from the first episode aired last Saturday. The highest per-minute viewership rating set a new record for the series.

In Episode 4, while on the run, Kang Tae-ju shows up at his in-laws’ house armed with a handgun. His father-in-law and mother-in-law, who suspect their son-in-law of kidnapping their daughter Go Se-yoon, are shocked by Kang Tae-ju’s sudden threat. Pointing the gun at the couple, Kang Tae-ju demands they hand over 3 billion won.

As Kang Tae-ju—who had repeatedly insisted he was not the culprit—points a gun at his in-laws and demands a massive sum of money, new questions arise about what hidden plan he might be pursuing. Namgoong Min portrays Kang Tae-ju’s emotions—a mix of desperation and resolve—with a restrained expression and a piercing gaze. Jang Gwang and Oh Min-ae portray the confusion of the father-in-law and mother-in-law as they confront their son-in-law’s sudden outburst.

The preview clip for Episode 4, released today, also shows Kang Tae-ju seizing a police officer’s handgun. After a fierce physical struggle with the officer, he takes the gun. However, when the officer remains motionless after the clash, he pauses his escape to administer first aid. This scene demonstrates his conviction as a doctor to save lives even in a critical situation.

The production team stated, “Namgoong Min, along with Jang Kwang and Oh Min-ae, has proven what a powerful combination of acting prowess looks like,” adding, “Episode 4 will unfold with the thrill of a suspense-filled story where you can’t let your guard down for a single moment, along with a series of shocking twists.
