[Edaily Reporter Kim Kyung-eun ] As an investment frenzy sweeps over “patriotic companies” facing delisting, there have been a series of cases where their stock prices have surged.

According to MP Doctor on the 13th, as of 9:08 a.m. that day, Monami(005360)was trading at 2,405 won, up 260 won (12.12%) from the previous close.

At the same time, HansungEnterprise(003680)was trading at 9,390 won, up 930 won (10.99%) from the previous trading day. It briefly rose to 10,990 won during the session, marking its third consecutive trading day of hitting the daily price limit, following the 9th and 10th of this month.

These companies faced the threat of delisting this month after the KOSPI’s listing maintenance requirement was raised from 20 billion won to 30 billion won in market capitalization. However, a movement—centered on social media (SNS)—calling for the preservation of these “patriotic companies” sparked a wave of supportive investments, ultimately helping them exceed the delisting threshold.

In particular, HansungEnterprise became a hot topic after it was revealed that the company had been hosting and sponsoring concerts for foreign soldiers who fought in the Korean War for the past 25 years. On its official online store, shipping of its flagship product, “Cremy,” was delayed due to a surge in orders.

However, some point out that this craze for “patriotic theme stocks” is a temporary phenomenon and that fundamental improvements to the companies’ business fundamentals are crucial. HansungEnterprise’s operating profit last year was 5.8 billion won, a 47% decrease from the previous year. Monami posted an operating loss of 5.9 billion won last year, marking its third consecutive year of losses.
