The contract was signed on the 12th (KST) and will run for five years starting July 7, 2026. It will automatically renew on an annual basis thereafter. The products to be supplied are new offerings based on Curiosis Inc.’s live-cell imaging system, the “Celloger® Mini Plus.”
Merck is a global biotech company that recorded sales of 21.1 billion euros last year and employs approximately 62,000 people. The product is scheduled to be supplied to global markets through Merck’s U.S. life sciences subsidiary, ‘EMD Millipore.’ EMD Millipore, founded in 1954 and a constituent of the S&P 500 index, was acquired by Merck in 2010. Merck’s Life Sciences division reported revenue of approximately 8.98 billion euros (approximately 15.5 trillion Hanwha won) last year.
Under this agreement, Merck will secure global sales rights for the product. However, Curiosis Inc. will be able to continue selling its own-brand products based on the same intellectual property (IP) and plans to pursue a strategy of simultaneously expanding its global partner channels and its own sales network.
Curiosis Inc. explained that this agreement allows it to secure an additional global partner in its OEM and ODM business segments. By adding Merck to its client roster alongside its existing partner, Revvity, the company is seen as having once again demonstrated its technological capabilities, mass production capacity, and quality control (QC) systems.
Yoon Ho-young, CEO of Curiosis Inc., said, “It is highly significant that we have established a five-year partnership with Merck, a global life sciences company with a long history,” adding, “We will actively respond to global demand based on our Yongin plant, where expansion was completed in the first half of this year.”
