[Edaily Reporter SIN SOO-JUNG ] The food industry is rolling out a series of new ready-to-eat soup products designed to reduce the burden of meal preparation. Daesang is expanding its line of frozen soups and stews, while OTOKI has recreated the “Whole Chicken Kalguksu” dish from Seoul’s Dongdaemun district as a ramen product.

Daesang(001680) Cheongjeonwon’s ready-to-eat brand, Homings, announced on the 14th that it has launched four ultra-convenient soup dishes, including beef tripe hot pot, assorted blood sausage soup, wild mustard leaf soybean paste stew, and squid and radish soup. With these new additions to the eight varieties introduced last July, the product lineup has expanded to a total of 12 items.

The new products are frozen items that combine meat, vegetables, seafood, and other ingredients with a concentrated sauce in a single package. There is no need to thaw them separately; simply place the product and water in a pot, bring to a boil, and cook for an additional three minutes.

The Tripe Hot Pot features domestic pork tripe, green onions, and perilla leaves in a beef bone broth. The Assorted Sundae Soup contains pork offal—including sundae, pig’s snout, and heart—in a pork bone broth. The Wild Radish and Soybean Paste Stew combines domestically produced wild radish, mushrooms, and potatoes with Hanwoo beef broth and soybean paste. The Squid and Radish Soup features squid, radish, and green onions in a seafood broth.

The products will be sold sequentially through online channels such as Jeongwon e-Shop, Naver Smart Store, Coupang, and Kurly. The Squid and Radish Soup will be sold exclusively at E-MART Co., Ltd.

Ottogi(007310)has launched “Dongdaemun-style Whole Chicken Kalguksu,” a reinterpretation of a menu item from Dongdaemun’s “Whole Chicken Alley.” Reflecting the growing trend of both domestic and international visitors to local restaurants, the company developed this chicken kalguksu in instant noodle packet form.

The new product enhances the chicken broth with the savory umami of vegetables while highlighting the aromas of garlic and pepper. It features kalguksu noodles that are thicker than those in regular instant noodles and includes chicken, potatoes, and green onions as ingredients.

An OTOKI spokesperson stated, “The Dongdaemun-style Whole Chicken Kalguksu is a product designed to let consumers easily enjoy the warm hospitality and hearty meals of Dongdaemun’s alleyways right at home,” adding, “We will continue to introduce the charm of local cuisines from across the country and K-food through convenient meal options, providing consumers with an even wider variety of culinary experiences.”
