On the 13th, Yoo Ah-in made an appearance at the VIP premiere of the film “Hope,” held at the Megabox COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
In videos posted on online communities and YouTube, Yoo Ah-in is seen attending the event wearing a black shirt and a blue cap pulled low over his eyes. He particularly drew attention as he appeared to be accompanied by director Jang Jae-hyun of the film “Vampire,” which had sparked speculation about Yoo Ah-in’s comeback after it was reported he would star in the film.
Although Yoo Ah-in did not pose for photos at the official photo wall, he appeared relaxed, chatting with acquaintances and smiling brightly.
Industry insiders are reacting to this appearance by suggesting that he has effectively kicked off his comeback. Although he has not officially confirmed his role in Director Jang Jae-hyun’s new film “Vampire,” the fact that he was seen with Director Jang that day lends credence to the possibility of his casting.
Previously, Yoo Ah-in also made headlines last year after being spotted with director Bong Joon-ho. At the time, a photo posted on social media by DJ and producer Peggy Gu showed a man believed to be Yoo Ah-in.
Amid ongoing speculation about his return to the screen, attention is focused on Yoo Ah-in’s future plans.
Yoo Ah-in was indicted in October 2023 on charges of habitually using medical propofol and other substances on 181 occasions. He was also charged with illegally obtaining prescriptions for approximately 1,100 tablets of two types of sleeping pills under another person’s name, as well as smoking marijuana and inciting others to do so.
Last July, the Supreme Court handed down a sentence of one year in prison, suspended for two years, and a fine of 2 million won during the appeal hearing for Yoo Ah-in, who had been indicted on charges including violation of the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances).
