[E-Daily Reporter Hyera Lee ] #CHAEVI CO., LTD announced on the 14th that it will participate as a partner institution and client company in the “Robot-Based Autonomous Electric Vehicle Charging System” development project, which is being carried out as part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s “Support Program for the Rapid Commercialization of AI-Applied Products.”

This project, with a total budget of 6.43 billion won, will run through December of next year, with the government providing approximately 4.5 billion won in funding. The goal is to automate the entire charging process—from removing the dust cap from the charging port to connecting the charger and disconnecting it after charging is complete—using AI-based robot technology.
CHAEVI CO., LTD will be responsible for demonstrating and validating the commercialization of autonomous charging technology by leveraging its charging infrastructure, which comprises approximately 10,000 charging stations, including over 6,000 stations it operates directly. To this end, the company plans to sign Letters of Intent (LOIs) with Nowon-gu, Seoul, and Siheung City, Gyeonggi Province, to conduct technical validation in real-world charging environments.
Building on its vertically integrated system—which covers everything from charger manufacturing to installation, operation, and maintenance—the company is also participating in the development of core autonomous charging technologies, such as automatic connector engagement, position alignment, and charging safety controls. Through these efforts, the company aims to secure a competitive edge in next-generation charging technologies applicable to autonomous vehicles and unmanned mobility environments.
CEO Choi Young-hoon stated, “Autonomous charging technology is the core infrastructure of the future era of unmanned mobility,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen our technological validation and commercialization competitiveness based on our experience in operating actual charging infrastructure.”
