DK Techin announced on the 14th that it has unveiled “KakaoWork 2.0,” which combines advanced AI capabilities with the latest infrastructure architecture.

KakaoWork 2.0 goes beyond traditional messenger-based collaboration tools and is designed to allow users to utilize an AI agent within their workflow. The operating engine has also been completely overhauled to improve both app launch speed and service stability.

The core feature is the Agent AI “Work AI.” Work AI operates within the messenger interface, which is most frequently used for work. Users can access AI features—such as sentence correction, conversation summarization, and chat history search—directly while chatting in the chat window.

Features such as spelling and tone correction—which refine sentences before sending messages—as well as summaries of unread conversations and mentions, and conversation history search are all available directly within the chat window. Existing features, such as real-time multilingual translation and text search within images, have also been integrated.

A new Work AI side panel has also been added to the right side of the messenger screen. From the side panel, users can search for past work-related content based on the conversational context across all chat rooms and channels they belong to. Features such as asking questions and receiving answers based on the content of uploaded files, as well as AI grouping that automatically categorizes chat rooms by nature, are also provided.

A “Knowledge Search AI” mode, which serves as a substitute for internal policy manuals and guidelines, has also been added. When users ask questions in natural language—such as “Tell me how to request annual leave” or “Find the corporate card usage policy”—the AI provides answers based on the company’s internal database. If administrators have registered relevant documents, the AI can handle recurring internal inquiries.

DK Techin also emphasized security. The company explained that KakaoWork 2.0’s AI features are designed to run on the internal network, thereby reducing the risk of core corporate information or sensitive data being leaked externally.

Performance has also been improved. KakaoWork 2.0 has completely overhauled its engine architecture, switching to a system based on Electron and Rust. As a result, GPU utilization in idle mode has been reduced by 96%, and memory usage has been cut by 50%. The app now launches four times faster than before.

The company explained that these engine improvements have also boosted developer productivity, establishing an update structure that allows for faster implementation of features and improvements requested by clients in the future.

The user experience has also been reorganized around projects. KakaoWork 2.0 supports Markdown formatting to improve text readability. It also introduces new features such as channels and threads for continuing discussions on specific topics, as well as a channel exploration preview feature.

A notification center has also been established where users can separately view mentions directed at them and important notifications among real-time alerts. The company plans to use this to reduce work-related fatigue and improve project management efficiency.

Kang Hyun-jin, Leader of the Business Strategy Group at DK Techin, stated, “KakaoWork 2.0 was designed to organically combine high-performance infrastructure with advanced AI technology, enabling employees to immerse themselves in their work as conveniently and quickly as possible.” He added, “Based on our goal of satisfying customers in every aspect—including performance, functionality, and cost—we will lead the AI transformation and smart work culture for companies and organizations.”
