Peptron, Inc. announced on the 14th that CEO Choi will purchase 10,000 shares on the open market. With this acquisition, CEO Choi’s total shareholding will increase to 1,676,662 shares, raising his ownership stake by 0.04 percentage points to 7.19%.
The company explained that this share purchase reflects its commitment to strengthening responsible management and enhancing shareholder value. A Peptron, Inc. official stated, “The management’s purchase of treasury stock demonstrates confidence in the company’s technological capabilities and growth potential,” adding, “We will continue to strive for mutual growth with our shareholders.”
Peptron, Inc. is expanding its business based on its “SmartDepot” technology, a long-acting drug delivery platform. “Loop One,” a leuprolide formulation utilizing this technology, is a treatment for prostate cancer and precocious puberty; it successfully entered the commercial market last year after receiving marketing authorization from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Earlier this year, the company applied for marketing authorization to enter the Central and South American markets, including Mexico.
In addition, the company is developing “PT403,” a semaglutide-based, one-month-duration candidate drug for the treatment of diabetes and obesity. This pipeline has demonstrated positive results in terms of weight loss efficacy, safety, and gastrointestinal tolerability, and the company recently confirmed through preliminary consultations with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that it can utilize the 505(b)(2) marketing authorization pathway.
Peptron, Inc. is moving forward with the construction of a second plant in Osong, North Chungcheong Province, with the goal of breaking ground this September, and plans to expand its global production capacity for its SmartDepo platform-based pipeline through this facility.
