Through this Bench ad shoot, Kim Soo-hyun has returned to official activities for the first time in one year and four months. Advertising models are chosen carefully because they influence a brand’s image. Against this backdrop, some have interpreted Kim Soo-hyun’s selection as a brand model and his participation in the shoot as a sign that he has entered a phase of regaining the industry’s trust.
Previously, Kim Soo-hyun had suspended his activities after the Gaseyeon organization claimed in March of last year that the late Kim Sae-ron had been in a romantic relationship with him since she was a minor and that the cause of her death was due to financial pressure from Kim Soo-hyun’s side. The release of “Knock Off,” a Disney+ series for which filming had been completed, was also postponed.
Kim Soo-hyun’s camp dismissed Ga Se-yeon’s claims as “groundless” and initiated legal action. After approximately one year of legal battles, Ga Se-yeon’s representative, Kim Se-ui, was indicted and remanded in custody by prosecutors on charges including violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation by disseminating false information), violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, and violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (distribution of footage recorded using cameras, etc.), attempted coercion, and intimidation, and was referred to the prosecution for detention.
In response, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, issued a statement saying, “Above all, we sincerely thank the fans who have supported Kim Soo-hyun and stood by her throughout this long period. Your trust and support have been a great source of strength even during these difficult times.”
