Singer-songwriter Kwon Jin-ah (28) made this statement at the press showcase for her third mini-album, “SAVE ME,” held at 3:00 p.m. on the 15th at the Dongyang Life Hall in the NOL Theater in Hapjeong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
Kwon Jin-ah made her official debut in 2016 after appearing on the SBS music audition program “K-Pop Star 3,” which aired in 2013. Since then, she has been beloved for her ballads such as “I Was Lucky,” “Consolation,” “The End,” and “Something’s Wrong.”
“SAVE ME” is Kwon Jin-ah’s first rock album. “Last year, I released a full-length album featuring ballads that resonated with the public,” she explained that day. “This time, I wanted to convey the stories I truly wanted to tell, so I chose the theme of self-loathing—something I’ve wanted to explore for a long time.”
She added, “I chose the rock genre because I felt that the sound created with electric guitars was best suited to expressing self-loathing and the stories deep within my heart.”

The album features a total of five tracks, including the title track “MONSTER,” as well as “WHO CAN CHANGE,” “Rain on Me,” “87days,” and “Don’t Save Me.” Through these songs, Kwon Jin-ah aims to convey the message that “you are never alone, and we must keep on living.”
Kwon Jin-ah said, “I wanted to evoke empathy and comfort by sharing that I am no different from the ordinary young people living in this era.”
The title track, “Monster,” is a song that combines an energetic sound with a narrative in which the artist refers to herself as a monster but ultimately vows that she “must survive.”
Kwon Jin-ah said, “The message ‘love yourself’ didn’t really resonate with me,” adding, “So I wrote a song that conveys my own message: ‘Even if you can’t love yourself, let’s move forward toward tomorrow.’”
She continued, “Until now, I’ve mainly promoted songs focused on refined, delicate vocals, but this time, I’m presenting a track that emphasizes a powerful, sharp vocal delivery. I think this new attempt will be fun,” expressing her anticipation.

The music video for “Monster” was produced as a black comedy featuring a confessional narrative about emerging from a long, dark tunnel. Kwon Jin-ah, who appeared in the music video and acted in it, said, “I once suffered from anorexia while dieting, so I included scenes related to that,” adding, “Since I, too, am still not free from the societal atmosphere that glorifies being thin and pretty, I wanted to explore that theme through this opportunity.”
“Save Me” holds special significance as it marks the release of an album in the year of her 10th anniversary since debut. All tracks from the album and the music video for the title track will be released today at 6 p.m. via various online music platforms.
When asked about her thoughts on her 10th anniversary, Kwon Jin-ah said, “I feel like there’s so much more to do, so I’m really looking forward to it. In the future, I’d like to challenge myself by releasing a variety of albums, such as R&B, acoustic pop, and cover albums.”
She continued with a smile, “I’m grateful to have become an artist who has held solo concerts at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium and the Ticketlink Live Arena (Handball Stadium). My next goal is to perform at the K-Sport Dome (Gymnastics Stadium).”
