According to Nielsen Korea, a viewership ratings research firm, on the 20th, the second episode of tvN’s “Creepy Romance,” which aired on the 19th, recorded an average national household rating of 5.3% with a peak of 6.2%, and an average Seoul metropolitan area household rating of 5.4% with a peak of 6.3%. The first episode, which aired on the 18th, recorded an average national household rating of 3%, marking a 2.3% increase in the second episode.
That day, Ma Kang-wook (played by Yang Se-jong), who had been curious about Cheon Yeo-ri’s (played by Park Eun-bin) true identity due to the previous incidents, went to the Reina Hotel and pressed her on why she kept appearing at every crime scene. Cheon Yeo-ri answered honestly, saying, “A ghost told me,” but Ma Kang-wook did not believe her.
Later, Cheon Yeo-ri also encountered Park Seung-jae (played by Kim Do-wan), the boyfriend of her cousin’s younger brother—who had been indicted on charges of murdering a woman named Jang Eun-ju (played by Yoon Hye-rim) but was later released. Park Seung-jae vented his anger at Cheon Yeo-ri, saying he had heard she had called him a “parasite who switches partners based on a woman’s criteria.” However, Cheon Yeo-ri—who had learned of Park Seung-jae’s misdeeds from the spirit of the deceased Jang Eun-ju—did not back down. Instead, she deliberately mentioned Jang Eun-ju to provoke him. Falling into Cheon Yeo-ri’s trap, Park Seung-jae inadvertently referred to Jang Eun-ju as “that dead girl,” revealing that his claim that “Jang Eun-ju had gone into hiding” was a fabrication.
Ma Kang-wook, the prosecutor in charge of Jang Eun-ju’s disappearance case, was also searching for Jang Eun-ju’s body, which appeared to have been murdered. After carefully examining the evidence, Ma Kang-wook climbed up to the rooftop water tank, where he suspected Park Seung-jae had disposed of Jang Eun-ju’s body to avoid detection.
As Ma Kang-wook hurriedly climbed the ladder to peer inside the water tank, he instinctively grabbed hold of none other than Cheon Yeo-ri’s ankle. Stunned by the unexpected encounter, the two realized they had come to the rooftop for the same reason. Together, they searched for Jang Eun-ju’s body and succeeded in proving the charges against the suspect, Park Seung-jae.
Meanwhile, Cheon Yeo-ri visited a hotel on Jeju Island for business discussions and ran into an old friend, Kang Min-hwan (played by Ong Seong-wu). Kang Min-hwan suggested that Cheon Yeo-ri stay the night, and she readily accepted the offer, considering it a request from a close friend. Coincidentally, Ma Kang-wook had also arrived at the same hotel to attend a friend’s wedding. Having come to the hotel for different reasons, they unintentionally ended up sharing the same room, leading to the unexpected situation of the two of them sharing a bed. Although they had both sensed someone’s presence, they hadn’t thought much of it and had ignored it the entire time; it wasn’t until morning that Cheon Yeo-ri and Ma Kang-wook saw each other’s faces and let out a scream.
Cheon Yeo-ri was deeply worried that their physical contact the previous night might have caused Ma Kang-wook to see ghosts as well, so she finally asked him if they had touched each other. Unaware of her concerns, Ma Kang-wook snapped back, “You’re not my type.” Nevertheless, when Cheon Yeo-ri was in danger, he rushed to her rescue.
Amidst this, Cheon Yeo-ri received a request from a new ghost, signaling the start of yet another case. At the same time, Ma Gang-wook was investigating a request from a haenyeo he was close with to find her granddaughter. While each was investigating their own case, the two happened to run into each other at the same cliff, and Ma Gang-wook was baffled, asking, “Why are you here again?”
In particular, when Cheon Yeo-ri lost her footing and dodged Ma Kang-wook’s hand as he tried to catch her, Ma Kang-wook also lost his balance and fell into the water alongside her. As they struggled to surface, they discovered a corpse lying beneath the water’s surface. Curiosity is mounting about the next episode: Whose body did Cheon Yeo-ri and Ma Kang-wook find, and what story lies behind it?
