(Photo courtesy of EDAM Entertainment)On the 20th, IU posted a lengthy message on her fan platform, Berries, announcing the cancellation of her solo concert, which was scheduled to take place this September at the Main Stadium of the Goyang Sports Complex. She also announced that she has postponed the release of her sixth studio album, which was originally planned to coincide with the concert. IU explained, “Recently, the symptoms of my chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction have been worsening,” adding, “The symptoms persist day and night, and I’m repeatedly finding it difficult to maintain my best condition when singing.” She elaborated, “The condition I’m suffering from isn’t one that causes pain or makes daily life impossible. However, since I’m a singer by profession, I’ve determined that this situation is not conducive to delivering a joyful performance to the audience while in top condition.” Eustachian tube dysfunction refers to a condition in which the Eustachian tube—which should normally be closed—remains abnormally open. This can cause a person to hear their own voice or breathing loudly, or to feel a sense of fullness in the ear, as if it were blocked. IU said, “Experts advised that performing in concerts, where I sweat profusely, would be too much of a strain for the time being,” adding, “I feel heavy-hearted and sorry that I won’t be able to keep my concert commitments.” She continued, “I had planned to kick off a nationwide tour for the first time in a long while, starting with the Goyang concert,” and added, “Since the tour was the main promotion for the album, I’m afraid I’ll have to postpone the album’s release date slightly as well.” IU also stated, “I’ll do my very best to ensure the wait isn’t too long,” and added, “I’ll do my best to make sure I can start 2027 together with my fans.” Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, also released a statement that day regarding IU’s health condition and the postponement of her comeback schedule. The agency stated, “We plan to do our utmost to support the artist’s recovery and will spare no effort to ensure IU can meet her fans in good health. We will officially announce updates regarding the album and concert schedules at a later date.”
