ORIENTBIO(002630)[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] BioInfra Co.,Ltd. announced on the 22nd that it plans to expand its “preclinical data AI assetization” initiative, which involves systematically accumulating pathology, hematology, imaging, toxicology, and pharmacodynamic evaluation data generated during preclinical trials using non-human primates for research purposes and building them into an artificial intelligence (AI) database (DB). (Photo courtesy of ORIENTBIO) The company’s strategy is to go beyond simply supplying primates and conducting nonclinical trials; it aims to transform the data obtained during these trials into standardized research assets and establish an AI-based data CRO (Contract Research Organization) business model capable of precisely predicting the toxicity and efficacy of new drug candidates. Recently, the government has also been promoting innovation in new drug development by combining data and AI. On the 20th, the Ministry of Science and ICT held a “K-Moonshot AI New Drug Mission On-Site Opinion Gathering” to discuss measures for securing high-quality bio-data and strengthening AI-based efficacy and toxicity prediction capabilities. ORIENTBIO has signed an exclusive contract with its affiliate, Orient Cam, for non-clinical testing using research primates, establishing a business framework that integrates supply, testing, quality assurance (QA), and data analysis. The company plans to standardize non-clinical data as AI assets and utilize them to support the analysis of new drug candidates and R&D decision-making. A company official stated, “The AI bio-platform business is a new growth engine that transforms accumulated preclinical data into high-value research assets,” adding, “We will do our utmost to enhance our corporate value and shareholder value by refining our business structure and expanding collaboration with global biotech companies.”
