On the 18th, Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of North Korea’s Workers’ Party, reported that a Chinese Party and government delegation led by Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited the Wonsan-Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone the previous day. [Edaily Reporter LEE MINHA ] Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited the Wonsan-Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone, a key project of Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea. On the 18th, *Rodong Sinmun*, the official newspaper of North Korea’s Workers’ Party, reported that a Chinese Party and government delegation led by Chairman Wang had visited the Wonsan-Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone the previous day.
Wong Yong-won and Kim Sung-nam, secretaries of the Workers’ Party, accompanied the delegation. The delegation listened to briefings on the service facilities’ capacity, operational status, and development prospects of the resort area, toured various sites, and took in the beach scenery.
Chairman Wang said, “It is remarkable that this tourist zone—where magnificent architecture harmonizes uniquely with the natural environment and landscaping has been achieved at a high level—was built in such a short period of time.” He added, “The provision of excellent service facilities for the people is the embodiment and manifestation of the Workers’ Party of Korea’s ideology of putting the people first.”
This took place on the final day of Chairman Wang’s three-day official goodwill visit to North Korea, which began on the 15th to mark the 65th anniversary of the signing of the North Korea-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance. Earlier, Chairman Wang met with General Secretary Kim Jong-un to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations based on the North Korea-China Friendship Treaty. General Secretary Kim expressed his intention to expand cooperation in various fields, including the economy, science and technology, healthcare, and culture, and Chairman Wang responded by pledging to strengthen high-level exchanges and expand mutual cooperation.
