According to their agency RBW on the 22nd, ONEWE announced via their official social media accounts on the 21st that they will release the digital single “Line: The Wake” on the 27th and their third full-length album “Surface: Unknown Atlas” on the 19th of next month.
This project is a series that expands upon the narrative begun with their second single album, “Point: The Quiver,” released last May. It conveys the meaning that the small tremor that began with “Point” continues into “Line” and is ultimately completed as a single world and map in “Surface.” The concept aims to connect the distinct albums into a single story, thereby unfolding ONE WE’s unique musical universe in a more multidimensional way.
The logo motion video released alongside the announcement depicts dots, lines, and planes connecting in sequence to form a book, rendered in a dreamlike atmosphere. By concisely capturing the fairy-tale-like sensibility and narrative that WONWEE has consistently showcased, it has heightened anticipation for the new series.
Since their debut, ONEWE has established their unique musical identity by having the members personally handle the lyrics, composition, and production for most of their albums. Given that they have built their career on a solid band sound and delicate storytelling, this “Point·Line·Surface” project is also expected to be a process of completing a single narrative through music.
The first release, the digital single “Line: The Wake,” serves as a bridge connecting “Point” and their third studio album, “Surface.” Subsequently, the narrative of this series is set to conclude in a complete form with the release of their third studio album, “Surface: Unknown Atlas,” in August.
