[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] Advanced materials and components company ICH Co., Ltd.(368600)announced on the 23rd that it is mass-producing and supplying key functional materials that provide noise isolation and cushioning for SamsungElectronics’ next-generation foldable smartphones—the “Galaxy Z Fold 8,” “Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra,” and “Galaxy Z Flip 8.”
The supplied products include radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding gaskets and high-performance foam materials, which are applied in up to four locations per model. Since foldable smartphones must incorporate a folding mechanism within a thin profile, internal space is extremely limited, and the gaps where components are installed are narrow and require high precision. ICH Co., Ltd.’s gaskets provide both compressibility and conductivity even within the confined internal space of foldable smartphones, thereby reducing electronic noise and preventing degradation in 5G antenna performance.
The foam materials—polyurethane (PU) foam and polyethylene (PE) foam—fill the microscopic gaps between components, maintaining consistent contact stability for film-type displays despite changes in temperature and humidity or assembly misalignments, while also serving as a cushion to protect internal components.
ICH Co., Ltd. explained that through this supply agreement, it has once again demonstrated its technological expertise in RF and foam materials. Building on this, the company plans to expand its application areas to include automotive electronics, physical AI robots, and energy storage systems (ESS).
A company official stated, “This mass production supply for Samsung’s new Galaxy product signifies that ICH Co., Ltd.’s material technology has once again been recognized in the global premium smartphone market,” adding, “Based on the competitive edge we have built in the mobile sector, we will expand our application areas into high-value-added industries to establish a foundation for sustainable growth.”
