[Edaily Reporter SIN SOO-JUNG ] LotteChilsungBeverage’s RTD (Ready-to-Drink) alcoholic beverage brand, Sunhari Jin, recorded sales of 17 billion won in the first half of this year, surpassing last year’s annual sales. #LotteChilsungBeverage announced on the 23rd that Sunhari Gin’s annual sales last year were 16.2 billion won. In the first half of this year alone, the brand generated 800 million won more in sales than its total sales for all of last year. The company expects that if the current trend continues, this year’s sales will exceed twice last year’s figure.
Soonhari Gin expanded its product lineup starting with Soonhari Lemon Gin in May 2021. It currently sells four varieties: Lemon Gin, Grapefruit Gin, Yuzu Gin, and Sangria Gin.
By product, Lemon Gin accounted for the highest share of sales at 58%. Grapefruit Gin followed at 22%, Sangria Gin at 11%, and Yuzu Gin at 9%. The alcohol content of each product ranges from 4.5 degrees to 7 degrees and 9 degrees.
LotteChilsungBeverage explained that the sales growth was driven by its application of the freeze-extraction method—which involves freezing fruit at ultra-low temperatures before extracting the juice—as well as the launch of zero-sugar and reduced-sugar products based on consumer surveys.
The company projected that cumulative sales of Sunhari Jin will exceed 120 million 355-milliliter cans—based on the equivalent of 355-milliliter cans—from its launch through the end of this year.
A LotteChilsungBeverage official stated, “Our focus on product development that quickly reflects consumer trends, combined with enhancing the product’s quality through Sunhari Jin’s unique taste and aroma, has resulted in record-breaking first-half performance,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen the brand’s competitiveness so that even more consumers can experience the appeal of Sunhari Jin.”
