Actor Lee Dong-wook shared his thoughts during an interview for Disney+’s “Killers’ Shopping Mall Season 2” (“Kill Show 2”), held in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
“Killers’ Shopping Mall 2” is a stylish action series in which “Ji-an” (Kim Hye-jun), who has become the new CEO of the shopping mall after a grueling handover, teams up with the resurrected “Jin-man” (Lee Dong-wook) to launch a full-scale counterattack against the global power “Babylon.”
Lee Dong-wook shared his thoughts on the release, saying, “Season 1 received so much love, and thanks to that, I’m happy we were able to make Season 2.” He added, “It’s a character I love, and I’m glad to be able to work on this project once again, as it allows me to experience something fresh while filming.”

When Season 1 of “Killers’ Mall” premiered in 2024, it topped the Disney+ TV show charts in South Korea for three consecutive weeks. It also set the record for the most-watched Korean original series. It was also named one of the “Top 4 Korean Dramas of 2024” by U.S. magazine TypeG.
Lee Dong-wook expressed confidence, saying, “Did Season 1 only hold the top spot for three weeks?” He joked, “I’d be happy if we received recognition from global media again,” adding, “I think Season 2 will naturally take the top spot. If it doesn’t, it’s the director’s fault.”
Season 1 shocked viewers with its intense ending. This season will feature Jin-man, who has returned from the dead. Lee Dong-wook is set to fill Season 2 with even more powerful action and a commanding presence.
Lee Dong-wook recalled, “I wasn’t thinking about Season 2 when we started, but after Season 1 was released, there were internal discussions about a second season.” He added, “I prepared with the mindset that it would be meaningless if it wasn’t more entertaining than Season 1.”
Season 2 returns after a two-year hiatus. Lee Dong-wook admitted he felt some anxiety. “I’m not usually that type of person, but I was nervous the day before our first shoot,” he recalled. Lee Dong-wook described the warm and friendly atmosphere on set, saying, “The entire Season 1 crew carried over to Season 2, so it felt familiar and welcoming. It was like we’d just finished filming yesterday and gathered again today.”
Lee Dong-wook gained 8 kg to match Jung Jin-man’s physical appearance. He added, “I couldn’t look older after two years, so I had to prevent aging. (Laughs) I drank a lot of water, too.”
When asked about a potential Season 3, he replied, “Not at all,” drawing laughter. However, he added, “I think the decision will depend on the success of Season 2,” and said, “If they ask me to do Season 3, I’ll probably try my best to stay young and prepare accordingly.”

Season 2 features the main cast from Season 1—Lee Dong-wook, Kim Hye-jun, Jo Han-sun, Geum Hae-na, Lee Tae-young, and Kim Min—with Hyun Ri, Masaki Okada, and Jung Yoon-ha joining the lineup.
In particular, his chemistry with Kim Hye-jun is expected to be a highlight of this season. Lee Dong-wook drew laughter by saying, “I can’t really judge that. If this makes the news, people will probably tell me to mind my own business.”
He went on to praise her as an “amazing actress.” Lee Dong-wook said, “Actress Kim Hye-jun is an actress who works very hard—physically, mentally, and in terms of her screen time.” He added, “I think she’s an amazing actress who always takes the lead, never once frowns on set, and gets the job done calmly and quietly.”
In Season 1, Jin-man’s line, “Listen carefully, Jeong Ji-an,” in which he emphasized safety to his niece Ji-an, was repeated frequently. When asked if there would be any more of Jin-man’s signature lines this season, he replied, “In Season 2, I don’t say ‘listen carefully’ as much. (Laughs) Instead, Ji-an tells me, ‘Listen carefully, Jin-man,’” adding, “I really can’t do much in front of the kids,” which drew laughter.
As part of their promotional activities for *Kill Show 2*, the two also appeared on the YouTube talk show *Pinggye-go*, hosted by Yoo Jae-suk. Lee Dong-wook expressed his pride, saying, “I congratulate actor Hye-jun on his *Pinggye-go* debut,” and added, “I’m becoming an honorary member on this episode.”
He continued, “It’s fun and nice that people talk about ‘Pinggye-go’ wherever I go,” adding, “It feels like I’m getting closer to the viewers, and I’m grateful that it serves as a conversation starter even with people I’m meeting for the first time.”
When asked if there was an award he was hoping to win at the *Pinggye High* awards ceremony, he reflected, “I don’t think I’ll win anything this time. My role was rather minor.” He then added, “As for the Grand Prize, *Punghyang Middle School* hasn’t been released yet, so I think we’ll have to wait and see,” revealing his special affection for the show.

What can viewers expect from Lee Dong-wook in Season 2? Lee Dong-wook said, “The amount of action scenes has increased slightly,” adding, “These scenes are scheduled to air later in the season, and I think you’ll be able to see a new side of Jeong Jin-man—a cruel side—that you haven’t seen before.”
He added, “Rather than asking you to watch it more closely, I think you should just let yourself be carried away by it. I hope you’ll enjoy it as if you’re riding a roller coaster.”
“Kill Show 2,” which premiered on the 22nd, has currently released its first two episodes. A total of eight episodes will be released, with two episodes airing every Wednesday.
Finally, Lee Dong-wook said, “What else can I do? You’ll just have to wait. It’s going to get even more exciting.”
