[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] Director Na Hong-jin’s new film “Hope” has remained at the top of the box office in its second week of release, surpassing 2.64 million cumulative viewers. If the current trend continues, the film is expected to easily surpass 3 million viewers this weekend.

According to the Integrated Movie Ticket Network on the 24th, “Hope” took the No. 1 spot at the box office, drawing 115,010 viewers the previous day. Its cumulative audience count stands at 2,648,443.
In second place was “Minions & Monsters,” which drew 16,716 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 445,056. Next were “Moana” with 13,261 viewers (cumulative total of 822,237), “The Pupil” with 9,417 viewers (cumulative total of 1,474,481), and “Toy Story 5” with 8,043 viewers (cumulative total of 2,783,148).
“Hope” has maintained its lead at the box office since its release and continues its box office success. In particular, it is demonstrating a steady flow of audiences, consistently drawing more than 100,000 viewers even on weekdays, raising the likelihood that it will surpass 3 million viewers this weekend.
Advance ticket sales remain strong as well. As of 8:40 a.m. today, “Hope” ranked second overall with 200,725 advance tickets sold. Although “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” set to open on the 30th, took the top spot with 398,092 advance ticket sales, “Hope” also demonstrated its staying power by maintaining over 200,000 advance ticket sales even in its second week of release. Attention is now focused on whether “Hope” will surpass 3 million viewers this weekend and continue its dominance at the summer box office.
“Hope,” director Na Hong-jin’s first new film in about 10 years since “The Wailing,” is a sci-fi action thriller set in Hopo Port near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that depicts the struggle of people facing an unidentified entity. It has garnered significant attention for its star-studded cast, which includes Korean actors Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon, as well as international stars such as Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Taylor Russell.
