[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] Shares of security firm Kiwoom No.8 Special Purpose Acquisition Company(446840)are surging in early trading. It appears that buying interest is surging amid expectations of market expansion following the National Assembly’s passage of a bill mandating the installation of illegal filming detection systems in public restrooms.

According to MP Doctor on the 24th, as of 9:16 a.m., the stock is trading at 3,230 won, up 8.75% from the previous trading day.
Earlier that day, the company issued a press release stating, “The amendment to the ‘Act on Public Restrooms, etc.’ passed the National Assembly plenary session on the 23rd,” and expressed optimism that “with this amendment, permanent illegal filming detection systems will be included as legally mandated safety management facilities, leading to the formation of a new procurement market centered on local governments nationwide.”
The amendment includes illegal filming detection systems among the safety management facilities that mayors, county governors, and district office heads are required to install, and it will take effect six months after its promulgation. Specific installation targets will be determined by local government ordinances.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety is currently implementing the “24-Hour Safe Restrooms” project, which will support the installation of detection systems in 7,500 public restrooms over the next three years starting this year. Based on this, GITSN estimated the size of the mandatory public sector market at approximately 290 billion won. Furthermore, the company projected that if adoption expands to the private sector—including schools, department stores, and office buildings—the potential market size could reach approximately 2.56 trillion won.
GITSN supplies “Alpha-C,” a continuously operating illegal filming detection system it developed in-house. According to the company, the product has been designated as an “Excellent Product” and an “Innovative Product” by the Public Procurement Service, allowing it to be supplied via direct contract without competitive bidding. It has currently been adopted by approximately 130 institutions and facilities, including public agencies and educational institutions.
