[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] SBS is launching a reality variety show set in a rural setting for the first time in 16 years, following "The Family Is Here!"
Premiering on the 26th, “Je-cheol-ri Village Hall” is a two-day, one-night regional collaboration reality variety show in which five young people from the city travel throughout a rural village, sharing their talents and working with residents to turn each day into the most “vibrant” one—a time of “Je-cheol” (peak season). Rather than treating the countryside as merely a one-time experience destination, the show focuses on the process where urban talent and rural warmth come together to fill each other’s gaps.
What catches the eye most is the unique mix of members in the “Jeocheol-ri Youth Association.” Kim Dae-ho, the “resourceful leader,” guides the group with his signature resourcefulness and sociability, while Song Ga-in, the “talented and spirited older sister,” serves as a reliable vice president, keeping the village elders entertained. Joining them is Chef Park Eun-young, the “pretty older sister who cooks well,” who creates special meals using local ingredients, and Hyo-jeong, the “ultra-positive older sister with a way with words,” who lifts everyone’s spirits with her signature bright energy. The youngest member, Jonathan, plans to bridge the generational gap with laughter through his cheerful, clumsy charm and approachable personality, true to his image as the “strong but clumsy younger brother.”
By recruiting global K-pop idols Soobin from Tomorrow X Together (TXT) and Hyung-joon from CRAVITY as supporters, the show has created a special lineup that bridges generations.
After wrapping up their first shoot, the members shared their thoughts, saying, “It was tough, but really rewarding.” In particular, Song Ga-in expressed great satisfaction with the first shoot, saying, “I almost regretted not coming,” and Hyung-jun, who joined as a supporter, reportedly became so immersed in the close-knit teamwork on set that he remarked, “I’ll be disappointed if a different guest comes next time.” The cheerful synergy of the “Jeocheol-ri Youth Association,” which has fostered family-like chemistry from their very first meeting, is further heightening anticipation for the premiere.
SBS previously won the hearts of viewers with the variety show “Sunday Is Good—The Family Is Here,” which aired in 2008. Riding on that popularity, the network launched Season 2 in 2010. Now, 16 years later, it is unveiling “Jeocheol-ri Village Hall.”
SBS’s “Jeocheol-ri Village Hall” airs every Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
