Her agency, Mound Media, announced on the 25th, “Ms. Soyou’s father has passed away.”
They added, “The wake and funeral arrangements will be held privately in accordance with the wishes of the bereaved family,” and stated, “We ask for your kind understanding so that the family can spend time together in mourning, and we humbly pray for the repose of the deceased’s soul.”
The deceased was 70 years old. The wake is being held at the funeral hall of Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital in Seoul, and the funeral service will be held on the morning of the 27th. The burial will take place at Suwon Yeonhwa Cemetery.
Soyou debuted in 2010 as a member of the girl group SISTAR and gained immense popularity with numerous hit songs such as “Alone,” “Loving U,” and “Touch My Body.” After the group disbanded in 2017, she transitioned to a solo career and has continued to be active in the music industry.
