[Edaily Reporter Lee Youn-jung ] MBC’s “Oh Eun-young Report—Marriage Hell” will reveal an update on the “quasi-family couple”—who had been embroiled in severe conflict over living expenses—six months later.

The episode of “Oh Eun-young Report—Marriage Hell” airing on the 27th is a follow-up special, airing for the first time in over a year. The program revisits the couple and their families who appeared on the show to examine how their relationships and daily lives have changed since the broadcast.

The first couple featured in Part 1 of the follow-up special is the “quasi-family couple” who appeared on the show last January. The wife, who settled in South Korea after two attempts to defect from North Korea, and the husband, who had suffered the pain of losing his spouse, had started a new family together but faced a crisis due to conflicts over living expenses and mutual distrust.

At the time, the wife complained that her husband was not providing the 1 million won in living expenses he had promised on time, while the husband expressed suspicion that she had approached him for financial reasons. Dr. Oh Eun-young rebuked the wife, asking, “Did you come here just to get the 1 million won in living expenses?” but also analyzed that the living expenses symbolized the husband’s recognition of her as a family member. She then advised the husband to set up automatic transfers for the allowance and urged the wife to tone down her harsh language.

Six months after the broadcast, when they met again, the wife shared, “People around me kept asking, ‘How can you live with someone like that?’ My phone was ringing off the hook after the show.” The husband also confessed that he had faced criticism from those around him following the broadcast.

The production team verified whether the automatic transfer of living expenses had actually taken place and also revealed an unexpected gift the wife received from her husband. It is also reported that there has been a change in her relationship with her sister-in-law, who had previously misunderstood her as being solely interested in money.
