AccuGen’s greatest strength is its microbial analysis capabilities. AccuGen owns its own microbial sequencing platform, the Pro AI Platform. The Pro AI Platform utilizes AI-based microbial data—including over 25,000 microbiome samples—to identify and predict functional genes by age and body region, thereby discovering highly beneficial microorganisms to develop vegan and natural bio-materials.

The Pro AI Platform consists of three main components: data accumulation and AI model refinement; AI-driven multi-omics analysis; and microbial discovery and efficacy verification. To facilitate data accumulation and AI model refinement, the company acquires sample data through individual microbiome testing and academic services. It collects samples from various parts of the human body—such as the gut and oral cavity—and accumulates the resulting analytical data.

AI-driven multi-omics analysis identifies biological patterns through the establishment of a big data-based AI framework and integrated multi-omics analysis. The company identifies candidate strains of beneficial microorganisms by organ from a cohort of young, healthy individuals. Microbial discovery and efficacy validation involve the isolation and identification of candidate microbial vegan ingredients extracted from the AI platform. Optimal fermentation processes are also developed to maximize the expression of functional genes in beneficial microorganisms. High-value-added biomaterials are developed through functional and efficacy evaluations.

AccuGen has also secured a large number of functional strains. AccuGen has secured 887 functional strains that secrete functional substances, including lactic acid bacteria listed in the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s official notice. These strains can be applied to therapeutics, health functional foods, and cosmetics. They can be used to produce natural ingredients and raw materials that are highly effective and free of side effects. AccuGen has filed 25 patents related to microorganisms (including trademarks and designs).

for medical devices, such as genetic sample collection tubes and kits. The company maintains a cleanroom and automated facilities in Songdo, Incheon, capable of producing Class 3 medical devices.

CEO Kwon said, “AccuGen has established medical device development and production facilities in its own building (1,000 pyeong) in Songdo,” adding, “AccuGen is streamlining its processes through the introduction of cleanrooms and smart factories.”

He added, “We are capable of automating mass production based on the ISO 13485 quality management system,” noting, “At this production facility, we are manufacturing best-selling products—such as the Accu Collect Kit—that are based on our proprietary technology.”

He continued, “Through the expansion of this production facility and other measures, we will also begin full-scale production of raw materials for natural microorganism-based cosmetics and health functional foods,” adding, “We will ensure AccuGen’s sustained growth through new business ventures utilizing our proprietary microbial strains.”

AccuGen also established a branch office in San Diego in 2016 to prepare for its future entry into the U.S. market. CEO Kwon said, “The U.S. branch has been serving as a forward base for next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis,” adding, “Going forward, we plan to use the U.S. branch as a foothold for entering the U.S. market with our biomaterials.”
