[Edaily Reporter Kang Min-koo ] Kakao Pay ( kakaopay(377300)) has selected 100 college students for the first cohort of the “Sagak Sagak Supporters”—a program to cultivate young digital finance leaders—in partnership with the Children and Future Foundation, and the program is now underway. On that day, kakaopay presented all supporters with letters of appointment, name tags in the form of employee ID cards featuring the Supporters’ logo, and welcome kits.
The “Sagak Sagak Supporters” is a kakaopay mutual growth program designed to address blind spots arising during the transition to digital finance and to support college students in growing into leaders who drive an inclusive financial culture. The program recruited college students capable of conducting activities in areas with high concentrations of multicultural families in the Seoul and Gyeonggi regions, and the final participants were selected through a screening process.
The selected supporters will be divided into 20 teams of five members each and will carry out inclusive finance activities for approximately seven months, through January of next year. Key activities include: △ digital financial education for youth from multicultural and immigrant backgrounds; and △ a campaign to support the digital transformation of small business owners in commercial districts with high concentrations of multicultural residents. They will also participate in an “Inclusive Digital Financial Services Idea Hackathon” to incorporate the young people’s creative ideas, as well as undertake missions to produce promotional content.
Lee Yoon-geun, Chair of the kakaopay ESG Council, stated, “For the benefits of digital finance to be distributed evenly to all members of society, it is crucial to go beyond mere technical support and play a role in connecting people on the ground.” He added, “We will support the ‘Sagak Sagak’ Supporters so they can understand the financial lives of their diverse neighbors and grow into the next generation of youth leaders who help build an inclusive financial culture.”
