(Photo: kakaopay) kakaopay announced on the 28th that, in partnership with the Children and Future Foundation, it has selected 100 college students for the first cohort of the “Sagak Sagak Supporters”—a program to cultivate young digital finance leaders—and is launching full-scale activities. The Sagak Sagak Supporters is a kakaopay program designed to foster mutual growth by addressing blind spots arising from the rapid transition to digital finance and supporting college students in becoming leaders who drive an inclusive financial culture. kakaopay recruited supporters from among college students capable of conducting activities in areas with high concentrations of multicultural families in the Seoul and Gyeonggi regions. Following document reviews and interviews, young people who demonstrated a solid understanding of digital finance, strong communication skills, content creation abilities, and a sense of responsibility toward inclusive finance were ultimately selected. The selected participants will work on the ground to promote an inclusive digital financial culture and bridge the digital financial divide among multicultural families and local businesses. The selected supporters will be divided into 20 teams of five members each and will carry out inclusive finance activities for approximately seven months, through January of next year. Key activities will include △digital financial education for youth from multicultural and immigrant backgrounds and △a campaign to support the digital transformation of small business owners in commercial districts with high concentrations of multicultural residents. Additionally, an “Inclusive Digital Financial Services Idea Hackathon” to incorporate the young participants’ creative ideas and a mission to produce promotional content will also be carried out. In particular, since this year’s main theme is “Eliminating Digital Financial Blind Spots for Multicultural Families,” Nepalese TV personality Susan Shakya served as a special guest speaker at the launch ceremony to lead a session on multicultural sensitivity. Furthermore, pre-launch training led by instructors specializing in digital financial education helped ensure the supporters were ready to be deployed immediately to the field. Lee Yoon-geun, Chair of the kakaopay ESG Council, stated, “For the benefits of digital finance to be distributed evenly to all members of society, it is crucial to go beyond mere technical support and play a role in connecting people on the ground.” He added, “We will actively support the ‘Sagak Sagak’ Supporters so they can grow into next-generation youth leaders who deeply understand the financial lives of diverse neighbors and help foster an inclusive financial culture.”
