WITS Co., Ltd. attended the “Future Vehicle Transition Roundtable and Win-Win Cooperation R&D Kickoff Meeting,” hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy at the Korea Automobile Research Institute headquarters on the 27th. The event was attended by representatives from demand-side companies—including KG Mobility, HyundaiMotor, and Renault Korea—as well as research institutions, and featured an R&D project signing ceremony and a roundtable discussion.
The win-win cooperative R&D project aims to develop a standard battery system based on cylindrical cells to secure competitiveness in the xEV (eco-friendly vehicle) market. A key feature of this initiative is that, based on the actual needs of automakers, automakers and parts suppliers will conduct R&D directly geared toward mass production—from the initial design stage through real-vehicle validation.
Having been selected as the lead organization for this project, WITS Co., Ltd. plans to take charge of the “Development of a Cylinder-Cell Battery System for Expanded Vehicle Models” project being pursued by KG Mobility. The company plans to maximize technological synergy by integrating its existing power transmission and control technologies with battery management systems (BMS) and charging solutions, while working to stabilize the domestic future vehicle supply chain and expand its future vehicle business.
WITS Co., Ltd. stated, “In line with the government’s future vehicle industry policy, we will work closely with domestic parts companies to achieve successful commercialization and expand our presence in the future vehicle power system sector.”
