Set in the early Joseon Dynasty, “Nambeol” is a hard-boiled martial arts action film that follows nine warriors of varying abilities and social statuses as they set out for Tsushima Island to rescue prisoners kidnapped by Japanese pirates. Lee Kwang-soo is set to play Hwa-bong, an explosives expert on the expeditionary force who skillfully handles gunpowder weapons, promising a standout performance. “Nambeol” has already garnered high anticipation in the film industry thanks to its all-star cast. Prior to Lee Kwang-soo, actors Lee Byung-hun, Lee Do-hyun, Ko Yoon-jung, and Park Hae-joon had confirmed their participation, and the film has also drawn attention as the big-screen debut of singer Woods (Jo Seung-yeon). In particular, “Nambeol” draws attention as the directorial debut of Lee Mo-gae, one of South Korea’s leading veteran cinematographers. Director Lee has served as cinematographer on films such as “The Good, the Bad, and the Weird,” “I Saw the Devil,” “Asura,” and “Declaration of Emergency,” as well as the 10-million-viewer blockbusters “Seoul Spring” and “Exhumation.” The film is produced by HYBE Media Corp., which has delivered major, well-crafted works such as *Seoul Spring* and *The Inside Men*, further bolstering confidence in the project. Lee Kwang-soo continues to be active across both television and film. He has appeared in Disney+’s *Goldland*, released last April, as well as the Netflix variety show *Yoo Jae-suk’s Camp* and tvN’s *Kong Kong Farm Farm*. The release of the film *The Gardeners* is also imminent. With Lee Kwang-soo demonstrating his versatility across all genres, attention is focused on his new transformation into an action star.
