[Edaily Starin KIM HYUNSIK Reporter] Multinational girl group KATSEYE topped Spotify’s “Top Song Debut Global” chart (July 24–26) with their new song “Animal,” their agency HYBE and Geffen Records announced on the 29th.

The “Top Song Debut Global” chart ranks new releases from the past week. “Animal” also reached No. 2 on the “Top Song Debut U.S.” chart during the same period.
“Animal,” a pop track exploring the tension between a performer’s on-stage persona and the unbridled energy that emerges behind the scenes, was released on the 24th. The song generated significant anticipation among fans even before its release, as it features world-renowned singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran as a co-writer.
On its first day of release, “Animal” garnered approximately 3.34 million streams, debuting at No. 9 on Spotify’s “Daily Top Songs Global” chart and reaching No. 4 on the “Daily Top Songs U.S.” chart—Cat’s Eye’s highest-ever ranking.
“Animal” was also featured as background music in a promotional video for the movie “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” released by Sony Pictures through its official online channels. The video surpassed 10 million views in about 20 hours after its release, further boosting the popularity of “Animal.”
Cat’s Eye’s second mini-album, “Beautiful Chaos” (BEAUTIFUL CHAOS), released a year ago, continues to garner steady attention. The album peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, the main U.S. album chart, and has remained on the chart for 56 consecutive weeks. This album became the first girl group album in 21 years—since the Pussycat Dolls’ “PCD”—to remain on the Billboard 200 for a full year.
Cats Eye is a group formed through a joint venture between HYBE and Geffen Records in the U.S. They debuted in the U.S. in 2024 following the global audition project “The Debut: Dream Academy.” They proved their popularity by winning the New Artist of the Year award at the “2026 American Music Awards.”
