[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] HAESUNG DS(195870)announced on the 29th that its consolidated operating profit for the second quarter of this year was preliminarily estimated at 24.9 billion won, a 202.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue for the same period rose 34.1% to 211.1 billion won.
The company explained that revenue growth in the lead frame business division drove the improvement in earnings. Second-quarter lead frame revenue reached a record high for any quarter, driven by a steady increase in the supply of automotive lead frames since the second half of last year, as well as rising demand for power control semiconductors resulting from the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers. Stabilized raw material prices for lead frames and price hikes for integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) in the package substrate division also contributed to improved profitability.
An official from HAESUNG DS stated, “With the memory cycle continuing, lead frame demand is expected to remain robust, bolstered by the expansion of electric vehicle subsidy policies in major European countries,” adding, “As some production lines at the new Changwon plant—which was expanded last year—have begun operations, we plan to focus on expanding mass production volumes through full-scale operations in the future.”
The official continued, “Mass production of new DDR5 products has also begun, and supply volumes are expanding.” They added, “We are also considering the introduction of DDR6 panel production processes to respond to the rapidly changing market, and we will continue to grow as a major supplier in the semiconductor substrate market.”
