[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] Samsung is launching a program to provide job training and employment support to 1,000 unemployed young people outside the Seoul metropolitan area.

Samsung announced on the 30th that it held the opening ceremony for the “Youth Hope Learning Center” at the SamsungFire&MarineInsurance Daejeon Yuseong Training Center. The training program will begin on August 3 in four regions across the country: Chungcheong, Honam, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang.

The Youth Hope Learning Center is part of the “K-New Deal Academy,” a government initiative to strengthen young people’s job competencies and support employment. Leveraging Samsung’s experience operating “Hope Stepping Stone 2.0”—a program supporting youth preparing for independence—and the educational infrastructure of its affiliates, the center provides practical training required in corporate settings to unemployed youth outside the Seoul metropolitan area.

The training curriculum was designed with consideration for youth needs, regional industrial characteristics, and employment prospects. There are six fields in total: △ Electronics and Information Technology (IT) Manufacturing Technicians △ HVAC Technicians △ Shipbuilding Technicians △ Heavy Equipment Operator Technicians △ Online Advertising and Public Relations Specialists △ Pastry and Baking Technicians.

Samsung offers an integrated training program that spans from basic competency training to job-specific specialized training, hands-on practice, certification acquisition, and career planning. Rather than limiting the program to theoretical instruction, it focuses on equipping participants with the technical skills and professional competencies applicable in real-world industrial settings.

To help trainees concentrate on the program, Samsung also provides access to affiliated companies’ training facilities, on-site cafeterias, and shuttle buses. In each region, the program plans to conduct hands-on training linked to local industries.

Approximately 250 people attended the opening ceremony, including Kwon Chang-jun, Vice Minister of Employment and Labor; Lee So-hee, a lawmaker from the People Power Party; Yeo Myeong-gu, Executive Vice President and Head of the SamsungElectronics DS Corporate Social Responsibility Division; and trainees from the Chungcheong region. Trainees from the Honam, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang regions also participated online, bringing the total number of participants marking the start of the program to 550. Hwang Jeong-ah, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea, delivered a congratulatory message via video.

Vice Minister Kwon stated, “The K-New Deal Academy is a policy in which companies meet talent that will lead the future, young people develop their capabilities, and the government provides support,” adding, “I hope that through the Youth Hope Learning Center, young people will grow and take a leap forward.”

Through the Youth Hope Learning Center, Samsung will select a total of 1,000 unemployed young people from outside the Seoul metropolitan area this year, divided into the first and second halves of the year. Five hundred fifty participants will take part in the first-half training, while trainees for the second half will be selected following a recruitment announcement in August. The training is scheduled to begin this coming November.

Vice President Yeo Myeong-gu said, “The skills acquired at the Youth Hope Learning Center will become a competitive advantage for the trainees,” adding, “We will continue to strive to cultivate technical talent needed in the industrial sector and expand growth opportunities for young people.”
