[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] In Season 32 of “I’m Single,” a total of four final couples were formed, including Kwang-soo and Ok-soon, Kyung-soo and Hyun-sook, Young-ho and Jeong-hee, and Young-sik and Young-sook.
The episode of SBS Plus and ENA’s “I’m Single,” which aired on the 29th, featured the final dates and the final selections. Young-cheol from the “Solo Team,” who had won the “Super Date Pass,” asked Young-ja—who was on the same team—out on a date, saying, “Let’s make up for what happened yesterday.” Young-ja also told Young-cheol that she would use her “Super Date Pass” on him. Jeong-hee chose Young-ho, with whom she hadn’t yet gone on a proper date, while Soon-ja proposed to Young-soo that she would use her “Super Date Pass” on him, asking him in return to use his “Super Date Pass” on Jeong-sook. Young-soo had originally intended to use his “Super Date Pass” on Soon-ja, but after she persuaded him, he ended up asking Jung-sook out. However, Jung-sook felt secretly disappointed, thinking Young-soo hadn’t chosen her of his own free will, and Young-soo, too, couldn’t hide his mixed feelings upon seeing that Soon-ja was prioritizing her connection with Jung-sook over the possibility of a relationship with him.
A short while later, Young-ho set out on a date with Jeong-hee, his heart fluttering with anticipation. Over a meal of raw trout sashimi, they comfortably discussed everything from their views on marriage to their families. Young-ho confided, “I think we’d be a good match,” and “I don’t think we’d ever have a loud, heated argument if we were together.” Jeong-hee also revealed her desire to get to know him better, saying, “You seem like a better husband than a boyfriend.” Sun-ja, who went on a date with Young-soo, drew a clear line right from the start. She asked, “Has anything happened between us that could make me develop feelings for you?” Young-soo responded with disappointment, saying, “So you’re not even trying to make me fall for you.” After the date, Young-soo resigned himself to the situation in an interview, saying, “It felt like opening a lottery ticket I knew was a loser. I don’t feel too empty or sad about it.” Later, in an interview with Jeong-sook, she left the door open for Young-soo—who desperately wants a child—by saying, “If I meet someone really good, I’d be willing to have a child.” However, Young-soo brought up topics such as child-rearing and visitation rights after remarriage, and after the date, Jeong-sook confessed in an interview, “It sounded like he was saying, ‘There’s a wall between us.’” Young-soo also admitted, “It wasn’t a strong enough attraction to tackle those practical issues together.”
Young-cheol and Young-ja thoroughly cleared up the misunderstandings that had built up over time on *Super Date*. Young-ja belatedly confessed to Young-cheol, “I really liked you,” and Young-cheol also apologized, explaining that he had acted sensitively because he had feelings for her as well. Nevertheless, Young-ja ended the relationship, saying, “My feelings have cooled due to repeated conflicts,” and “I hope you meet someone good.” After the date, Young-cheol also said in an interview, “We sensed differences in our personalities, so I thought from the start to the end that we wouldn’t be a good match,” adding, “I regret not getting to know other people better.”
With all the final dates now wrapped up, the 32nd season participants gathered in the common living room to catch up on everything that had happened. At that moment, Young-sik made a slip of the tongue while talking about his ideal type. He blurted out, “Actually, I mentioned this during the interview too, but my ideal type in terms of appearance is Sun-ja, and my ideal type in terms of personality is Young-sook.” Upon hearing this, Young-sook’s expression froze, and later, she expressed her disappointment to the other single women, saying, “I don’t understand why he felt the need to say something like that in front of so many people right before the final selection.”
On the morning of the final selection, Ok-soon prepared a “breakfast event” for Gwang-soo. She then clearly expressed her feelings for the first time, saying, “Gwang-soo is Ok-soon’s number one choice!” Ok-soon said, “I felt a sense of stability and trust in the way you consistently waited for me,” and Gwang-soo, overcome with emotion, went up to the rooftop and shouted, “Thank you for making my heart, which had stopped beating, race again.” He then handed her flowers and a handwritten letter, firmly promising, “I’ll always be by your side, Ok-soon.”
Hyun-sook also reached out to Kyung-soo first. Although she had had feelings for Kyung-soo from their first meeting, she had been frustrated waiting for him to make a move. “I, the straightforward Hyun-sook, will be the one to express my feelings first,” she said as she extended her hand. Kyung-soo immediately replied, “I’m ready.” Young-ho and Jeong-hee also engaged in a final conversation before the final selection. Jeong-hee shed tears, saying she felt guilty and afraid about starting a new relationship while already having a child. Young-ho replied, “If you hesitate, I’ll hesitate right beside you. When you’re ready to take a step forward, we’ll take that step together.” Young-sik, who had made a slip of the tongue the day before, also made a belated effort to make amends. At a brunch café, he apologized, saying, “I think I was too blunt yesterday,” and then prepared a bouquet of freesias—Young-sook’s favorite—along with a cake and a meal. Seeing Young-sik’s clumsy but sincere efforts, Young-sook let go of her anger and smiled brightly.
Afterward, the final selection began. Gwang-su chose Ok-soon, describing her as “the person who opened my tightly closed heart wide,” and Ok-soon also chose Gwang-su, making them the first final couple. Sang-cheol, Young-su, Jeong-sook, Soon-ja, Young-cheol, and Young-ja, in turn, opted out of the final selection. Kyung-su said, “My heart was already set, and it hasn’t changed,” and turned to Hyun-sook, who reciprocated his feelings. Young-ho belatedly chose Jeong-hee, and Jeong-hee also chose him, saying she wanted to get to know him better in real life because he had given her trust and confidence. Finally, Young-sik and Young-sook chose each other as expected, bringing the 32nd season’s romantic journey to a close with a total of four couples. Following the 32nd season’s “Divorced Singles Special,” the 33rd season’s “Lifelong Singles Special” is in the works.
Meanwhile, an update on the cast’s current status was revealed during a live broadcast on the YouTube channel “Chonjang Entertainment” following the main broadcast. Among the final couples, Gwang-su and Ok-soon, Young-ho and Jeong-hee, and Young-sik and Young-sook revealed that they had developed into real-life couples after the show.
