[Edaily Starin Reporter Choi Hee-jae ] A wave of controversy is brewing after it was revealed that Ms. A, who has been alleging an extramarital affair with actor Hwang Jung-min, has extended her allegations to include the actor’s children and even an overseas distributor. Following the announcement by Hwang Jung-min’s representatives and the production company behind the film “Hope” that they would take strong legal action, Ms. A also stated that she would issue a statement through her legal counsel, signaling an impending legal battle.

According to the film industry on the 30th, Ms. A, the netizen who raised allegations about Hwang Jung-min’s private life, sent emails to Forged Films—the production company behind “Hope,” co-headed by director Na Hong-jin—and to Neon, the North American distributor, conveying her claims regarding the lead actor Hwang Jung-min’s private life.
In addition, it was reported that while engaged in a dispute with Hwang Jung-min’s agency, A sent a message to Hwang Jung-min’s son’s social media account. This caused a stir when it became known that Hwang Jung-min’s son was a minor at the time.
According to a report by Ilgan Sports on the 29th, after learning of Mr. A’s allegations, Neon requested that the *Hope* production team verify the facts. The *Hope* production team, after investigating the matter, informed Neon that Mr. A had been found guilty of stalking Hwang Jung-min and had received a court ruling.
Last August, Ms. A also sent an email to “Hope”’s production company, Forged Films, titled “Issue Regarding Long-Term Harm to the Lead Actor—Request for Verification and Action at the Production Company Level.”
According to Mr. A, he had been running a private blog exclusively with Hwang Jung-min, and claimed that 10 of the 100 posts on that blog—including two short stories he had submitted to a literary contest—had been leaked. Mr. A stated that he attempted to verify the source of the leak through Hwang Jung-min’s agency but was repeatedly ignored by the agency.
During this process, it appears that A attempted to contact Hwang Jung-min’s son—who was a minor at the time—by sending him a direct message (DM). After Hwang Jung-min’s agency issued a warning, A stated that he had merely requested to convey information, not to threaten or expose anything.

In response, Forged Films and Plus M Entertainment issued a statement late in the afternoon on the 29th, announcing their intention to take legal action against Mr. A. The “Hope” production team stated, “Mr. A caused damage amounting to obstruction of business by using maliciously edited content to send emails to both companies as well as ‘Hope’s’ partner companies, and by repeatedly uploading and deleting posts on social media that slandered the actor and the film.”
They went on to warn, “We are actively considering legal action regarding the damage caused to the film and plan to continue taking strong measures to prevent further harm.”
Hwang Jung-min’s agency, Sam Company, also plans to take further legal action against Mr. A. In a statement released on the 29th, the agency said, “He is a suspect in a stalking crime who has continuously harassed Hwang Jung-min,” adding, “We have filed a criminal complaint against Mr. A, and the court has issued provisional measures—including a restraining order—on three separate occasions, as well as a summary order imposing a fine of 3 million won.”
With Hwang Jung-min, as well as the distributor and production company of *Hope*, vowing a strong response against Person A, it was reported that Person A is also preparing an official statement with their attorney. Amid the ongoing back-and-forth over the truth between the two sides, Hwang Jung-min is proceeding with his schedule as planned. On the 29th, immediately following the controversy, he attended a stage greeting for *Hope* and met with the audience. This weekend, he will hold stage greetings in Busan, Daegu, and other cities.
