[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] LGELECTRONICS posted record-high sales and operating profit for the second quarter of this year, despite rising logistics costs and concerns over slowing consumption stemming from the war in the Middle East. The results were driven by expanded sales of premium products and growth in high-margin businesses such as business-to-business (B2B), subscription services, and webOS. The results also reflected the effect of tariff refunds on exports to the United States.

LGELECTRONICS announced on the 30th that it posted consolidated revenue of 23.8265 trillion won and operating profit of 1.5791 trillion won for the second quarter of this year. These figures represent year-over-year increases of 14.9% and 147.0%, respectively, marking the highest second-quarter revenue and operating profit in the company’s history.

Amid continued growth in the home appliance business, increased sales of premium TVs driven by the impact of major sporting events and strong performance in the automotive components business contributed to the company-wide revenue growth. Profitability was also boosted by an increased share of high-value-added products, improved cost competitiveness, and cost efficiency measures implemented through emergency management. The refund of customs duties paid on exports to the U.S. last year was recognized as one-time income.

Second-quarter B2B revenue reached 6.5 trillion won, a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. The B2B business accounted for 36% of total company revenue, excluding LG Innotek. Revenue from the subscription business, which includes products and services, also rose 5% to 660 billion won.

The HS Business Division, which handles home appliances, posted revenue of 7.0757 trillion won and operating profit of 685.9 billion won. Quarterly revenue exceeded 7 trillion won for the first time, and the operating profit margin reached 9.7%. This reflected the strategy of simultaneously targeting both the premium and volume segments, growth in the subscription business, optimization of the cost structure and supply chain, and the effect of tariff refunds.

The Media & Entertainment Solutions (MS) Business Division posted revenue of 5.1146 trillion won and operating profit of 219.4 billion won. This was driven by increased sales of premium TVs such as OLED and QNED, as well as growth in the Global South region and the webOS platform business.

The VS Business Division, responsible for the automotive electronics business, recorded revenue of 3.0259 trillion won and operating profit of 191.2 billion won, marking all-time second-quarter highs for both metrics. The Eco Solutions (ES) Business Division posted revenue of 2.7261 trillion won and operating profit of 235.8 billion won, driven by expanded overseas air conditioner sales.

A spokesperson for LGELECTRONICS said, “In the second half of the year, we will maintain the robust competitiveness of our core businesses while rapidly expanding new businesses such as robot actuators and AI data center (AIDC) cooling solutions.”
