'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Tops Box Office for Second Consecutive Day… Cumulative Attendance Reaches 1.13 Million

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 31st, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” took the top spot at the box office, drawing 441,568 viewers on the 30th alone. Its cumulative attendance stands at 1,131,236, marking the fastest film released in Korea this year to surpass the 1 million mark.
Director Na Hong-jin’s “Hope” took second place, drawing 67,625 viewers that day. Its cumulative total stands at 3,774,775. “Minions & Monsters,” in third place, drew 20,610 viewers. Next, Disney’s “Moana” added 11,877 viewers (cumulative total: 962,822), and Disney·Pixar’s “Toy Story 5” added 9,967 viewers (cumulative total: 2,880,338), ranking fourth and fifth, respectively.
Advance ticket sales figures are also noteworthy. “Spider-Man: A Brand-New Day” topped the advance ticket sales chart with 808,182 tickets sold as of 8:12 a.m. Next was Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” set to open soon, which took second place with 202,899 advance tickets sold. “Hope,” in third place, has 770,707 advance ticket sales.
“Spider-Man: A Brand New Day,” the first installment in the “Spider-Man” series in five years, continues to dominate the box office. Meanwhile, “The Martian,” set to open on the 5th of next month, is expected to join the fierce competition in the summer movie season.
