[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] SamsungElectronics is launching a full-scale push into the high-efficiency heating and cooling solutions market by beginning to supply its residential “EHS Heat Pump Boiler” to single-family homes on Jeju Island.

SamsungElectronics announced on the 31st that it installed an EHS Heat Pump Boiler at a single-family home in the Aewol area of Jeju on June 25 and held a plaque unveiling ceremony at the residence on the 30th to mark the full-scale expansion of this high-efficiency heating solution.

The EHS Heat Pump Boiler is an integrated solution that utilizes natural ambient air heat and electricity to provide indoor heating and hot water. It is characterized by its ability to generate more heat than the energy input, unlike conventional fossil fuel-based boilers, which have an energy efficiency of less than 100%.

The Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP), which indicates heating and cooling efficiency, recorded 4.9 under 35-degree outlet water conditions used for underfloor heating. This means it can achieve heating energy efficiency nearly five times greater than its power consumption. The SCOP under 55-degree outlet water conditions is 3.78. SCOP is calculated by dividing total annual heating energy by power consumption and may vary depending on actual usage conditions.

The unit also features functions to prevent breakdowns caused by freezing in winter and to prevent pipes from freezing. An electric heater and an anti-freeze valve are installed inside the outdoor unit, and a heater has been added to the bottom of the unit to facilitate smooth drainage.

Thanks to high-efficiency refrigerant compression technology, the unit can reliably supply hot water at temperatures up to 70 degrees even in winter environments as cold as minus 15 degrees. An intuitive touch display on the exterior allows users to control key functions. Using the SmartThings app, users can check indoor and water outlet temperatures and remotely control the unit.

SamsungElectronics plans to continuously strengthen the competitiveness of its heat pump-based heating solutions in line with the growing trend toward the electrification of heating.
