[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] On the 31st, independent research firm Value Finder projected that Xperix(317770)will see a recovery in profitability in its digital identity verification solutions business, while the value of its subsidiary Intellectual Discovery (ID)’s intellectual property (IP) business will come into full focus. The analysis suggests that, amid escalating global semiconductor patent disputes, a business model that protects and monetizes the patents of domestic companies could become a new growth engine.

Lee Chung-heon, a researcher at Value Finder, stated, “The return to profitability in the core business and improved earnings following cost normalization demonstrate the company’s ability to generate profits on its own,” adding, “The subsidiary Intellectual Discovery, which protects Korean companies from overseas patent disputes, will become a key growth driver for Xperix in the future.” He further explained, “The company achieved record-high performance in 2025 with revenue of 47.8 billion won and operating profit of 11.3 billion won, and as it is concurrently investing in IP, the value of its investment holdings is also positive.”

Xperix is a company specializing in digital identity verification solutions, established in 2017 through a spin-off from Suprema Inc. Its core products include biometric solutions based on fingerprints and facial recognition, as well as electronic document solutions that read passports and ID cards. Analysts expect the company to benefit from the expansion of the global eID market, based on its experience executing projects for public institutions in Korea as well as government projects in countries such as France, Brazil, Indonesia, Spain, and Mozambique.

The analyst stated, “A track record of supplying products to over 133 countries and experience with more than 75 government projects are factors that increase the likelihood of repeat orders and entry into new markets,” adding, “As eID investment expands in major countries in the future, overseas project wins and related revenue will grow significantly based on our accumulated track record.” The analyst also predicted, “As the stock-based compensation expenses recognized over the past two years have largely come to an end, revenue growth and cost reductions will occur simultaneously starting in the second quarter, leading to a significant improvement in core business profitability.”

In particular, he highlighted Intellectual Discovery as a key investment focus for Xperix. Intellectual Discovery is Korea’s first patent management company (NPE) and generates revenue through patent licensing, trading, and IP finance. Its major shareholders include public institutions such as the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the Korea Development Bank, as well as major domestic conglomerates like Samsung, SK, LG Corp., and HyundaiMotor.

The analyst stated, “Based on its achievements in global patent litigation settlements and the sale of standard-essential patents, Intellectual Discovery posted record-high earnings in 2025 and demonstrated profit leverage in the first quarter, with quarterly operating profit exceeding last year’s full-year operating profit,” adding, “Further growth is expected from the expansion of global patent licensing and new IP monetization projects.” He continued, “We have also invested in FuriosaAI four times since 2019 and have supported the company in building its patent portfolio,” adding, “We anticipate an increase in the value of our investment stake due to rising enterprise value, as well as additional IP monetization opportunities.”

Furthermore, the analyst noted, “The company decided to issue its 7th series of convertible bonds (CBs) last May, and together with the previously issued 6th series of CBs, a total of 25.5 billion won in investment funds is expected to be allocated toward acquiring a stake in Intellectual Discovery (ID).” “We plan to further expand our stake in ID—currently at 28.11%—to pursue its consolidation into our financial statements. Along with securing investment funds, this is expected to establish a stable revenue base and positively contribute to improved earnings,” the analyst stated.
