[Edaily Reporter Kim Kyung-eun ] SamsungElectronics(005930)and SK hynix(000660), the leading stocks on the domestic stock market, surged by more than 20% in early trading on the 31st. This is believed to be due to a recovery in investor sentiment following a sharp rise in semiconductor stocks on the New York Stock Exchange overnight.

According to MP Doctor, as of 9:14 a.m. today, SamsungElectronics is trading at 250,000 won, up 43,000 won (20.77%) from the previous trading day. SK hynix is trading at 1,621,000 won, up 99,000 won (22.62%) from the previous close.
This is attributed to the recent excessive stock price correction, as well as the sharp rise in semiconductor stocks on the New York Stock Exchange overnight. On the 30th (local time), the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 8.19% on the New York Stock Exchange.
Major semiconductor stocks, including Micron Technology (18.36%), SanDisk (25.99%), AMD (13.00%), and Intel (11.30%), posted double-digit gains.
Han Ji-young, an analyst at KIWOOM Securities, predicted, “The KOSPI is expected to rebound, driven by expectations that the deleveraging in the semiconductor sector will ease, Amazon’s after-hours stock price surging by over 9% following an earnings surprise, and KOSPI 200 overnight futures hitting the daily upper limit.”
The prevailing view in the market is that the recent correction in semiconductor stocks has been excessive.
Ryu Young-ho, an analyst at NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES, assessed SamsungElectronics, stating, “Given that changes in fundamentals are limited, the recent decline in the stock price is excessive.” He added, “While market opinions are divided on the impact of long-term supply agreements (LTAs), the expansion of such contracts is a factor that further solidifies the downside support for memory prices,” noting, “Given that unmet demand is expected to persist through 2027, it will be difficult for supply to keep pace with demand in the short term.”
