[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] Studio Dragon is set to produce “The High School Queen.”

On the 31st, Studio Dragon announced that actors Kim Se-jeong, Bae Hyun-sung, and Jo Han-gyeol will star in “High School Queen.”
Scheduled for release next year, “High School Queen” is a cathartic action romance in which Kim Cheong-ha (Kim Se-jeong)—the greatest warrior of the Joseon Dynasty and the Queen Consort—wakes up 400 years later in the body of a high school girl who has been a victim of school bullying. Using the dignity befitting a queen mother and her overwhelming martial arts skills, she disciplines the villains while pursuing the dreams and love she was unable to fulfill in her past life.
The story will follow Kim Cheong-ha, who has traveled 400 years through time, as she brings order to a high school ruled by money and power with her graceful swordplay and elegant, hard-hitting truths, while untangling the unresolved relationships from her past life.
Notably, the series is directed by Yoon Seong-sik, who has brought diverse genres—including *Gwi-gung*, *Queen Cheol-in*, and *Gaksital*—to life in a popular and stylish manner. Additionally, rising young stars such as Kim Se-jeong, Bae Hyun-sung, and Jo Han-gyeol are expected to deliver compelling performances as characters who transcend time and space, moving between the past and present.
Kim Se-jeong takes on the role of “Kim Cheong-ha,” Joseon’s greatest warrior and an indomitable queen consort. After awakening in the body of “Kim Da-jin,” a high school girl who was a victim of school violence, Kim Cheong-ha begins to subdue the villains who had been running rampant at the school, drawing on both the dignity of a queen and her warrior’s instincts. Expectations are high for the lively and fiery performance Kim Se-jeong will deliver, as she has consistently showcased her versatile charm across genres such as action, romance, and comedy. Kim Se-jeong said, “I feel this character embodies all the diverse facets of the roles I’ve played, so I’m preparing with a mix of excitement and pressure. Since this is a production that offers great joy not only through the characters’ narratives but also through the episodes that unfold each week, I’m putting in a lot of practice on both acting and action scenes.” She added, “I will do my absolute best until the very end to bring great fun and emotion to viewers through the character Cheong-ha.”
Bae Hyun-sung will transform into “Seong Won-ju,” a bodyguard who harbors feelings for Kim Cheong-ha, and “Seong Si-woo,” the ace of the kendo club. Having made a strong impression through works such as *Our Blues*, *Prefab Family*, and *The Shin President Project*, expectations are high to see how Bae Hyun-sung will portray the contrasting charms of the loyal bodyguard “Seong Won-ju” and the prickly kendo club ace “Seong Si-woo.” Bae Hyun-sung expressed his determination, saying, “The story itself—which blends action, romance, and fantasy—was intriguing and fun. Since it’s a work that traverses the past and present, I’m looking forward to showing you a variety of sides of myself,” adding, “I’ll prepare diligently so I can greet you with a great production.”
Jo Han-gyeol will portray King “Lee Neung,” the absolute ruler of the Joseon Dynasty, and the mysterious transfer student “Lee Do-yoon.” As a character who seems to hide a story behind his radiant smile, he is set to showcase an unpredictable, multi-dimensional charm as he becomes entangled with Kim Cheong-ha and Seong Si-woo. Expectations are also high for Jo Han-gyeol’s unique transformation, following the strong presence he displayed in *Undercover Miss Hong*. Jo Han-gyeol said, “It is an honor and a joy to be part of such a great production as *The High School Queen*,” adding, “I was truly thrilled when I heard the casting news, and I’m already looking forward to filming day by day. “High School Queen” is scheduled to premiere as a TVING Original in 2027.
