[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] KOYJ.CO.,LTD(121850)announced on the 31st that it is shifting its SOC (Spin-On Carbon) business strategy for the semiconductor industry from supplying finished products to supplying precursors, as it sets out to target the semiconductor supply chain.

KOYJ.CO.,LTD plans to enter the market as a secondary vendor to SOC manufacturers by focusing on supplying precursors (Stage 1) instead of the existing direct supply of finished products (Stage 3). This strategy is designed to accelerate market entry in response to the diversification of the semiconductor supply chain and the expansion of multi-sourcing.
Recently, as major semiconductor companies have been reducing their reliance on single suppliers and expanding their network of domestic partners, supply opportunities for materials companies are also increasing. KOYJ.CO.,LTD plans to build a business structure that is not dependent on specific finished product suppliers, based on its proprietary molecular structure design technology, and to expand its presence within the supply chain.
SOC is a hard mask material applied beneath the photoresist (PR) during the semiconductor fine-pattern formation process. With its excellent etch resistance and planarization performance, it is considered a key material necessary for implementing ultra-fine processes, and demand is expected to grow as semiconductor miniaturization progresses.
KOYJ.CO.,LTD is currently in discussions with SOC manufacturers based on its proprietary technology and expects to see tangible results by the end of the year. A KOYJ.CO.,LTD official stated, “Recent realignments in the semiconductor supply chain are expanding market entry opportunities for domestic materials companies,” adding, “Through our precursor supply strategy, we will minimize direct competition with existing suppliers and accelerate our market entry.”
