Netflix announced the release date for “Field Mouse” on the 31st and unveiled a teaser poster and trailer.
“Field Mouse” is inspired by the traditional Korean folktale “The Field Mouse That Ate a Fingernail.” It is a mystery thriller that follows novelist “Moon-jae,” who has had his name, face, and entire life stolen by a mysterious entity known as “Field Mouse”; loan shark “No-ja,” who is trying to recover his lost money; and detective “Sun-yong” as they investigate the true identity of Field Mouse.
Director Kim Hong-sun, known for the Netflix series *Tan-geum* and *Money Heist: Joint Economic Area* as well as the dramas *The Guest* and *Voice*, has teamed up with writer Lee Jae-gon, who penned the Netflix series *Model Family* and the drama *Special Case Unit Ten*. The cast includes Ryu Jun-yeol, Seol Kyung-gu, and Lee Kyu-hyung.
The released teaser poster features “Moon Jae” (Ryu Jun-yeol) staring intently at a single point with a serious expression. In particular, the tagline, “If I can’t prove it, I become the fake,” sparks curiosity about what the hidden truth might be amid the chaos of seeing everything collapse on the boundary between reality and illusion.

The teaser trailer, released alongside the poster, begins with writer “Moon-jae” living at home and going through the same daily routine. However, as he attempts to log into his mobile banking app, his fingerprint authentication fails. At that very moment, as if to issue a warning, something smashes into the living room window, causing a crack—and the mood takes a sudden turn. “Moon Jae” learns of the existence of “Field Mouse,” who has been planning for a long time to take everything from him, and steps out into the world to reclaim his life. However, due to his long period of seclusion, even those around him fail to recognize him. The line from loan shark “Noja” (Seol Kyung-gu)—“This is a shitty game where you have to find yourself”—highlights Moon-jae’s situation, having had his entire life taken away, and sparks curiosity about how they will resolve the crisis in *Field Mouse*. Furthermore, a series of scenes—ranging from hand-to-hand combat between “Moon-jae” and “No-ja” as they chase “Field Mouse’s” true identity, to car chases—signals the birth of yet another well-crafted genre film. Finally, “Who am I? Aren’t you curious?”—the voice of “Field Mouse”—teases a mystery-thriller where it’s impossible to tell what’s real and what’s fake.
“Field Mouse” will premiere on Netflix on Friday, the 28th of next month.
