In the episode of “Househusband” that aired on the 1st, featuring special guest Wonui’s Yong-hoon in the studio, the newlywed life of Eun Ga-eun—a working mom with a busy schedule—and her husband Park Hyun-ho was revealed.
Eun Ga-eun, who had been on a live home shopping broadcast schedule since early morning, showed her thrifty side by doing her own hair and makeup to cut costs. However, upon hearing that the event schedules planned immediately after the live broadcast had been canceled one after another, she couldn’t hide her disappointment.
“My ambition for my career clashes with my desire to stay by my five-month-old daughter Seo-won’s side,” Eun Ga-eun said, her eyes welling up as she spoke of the financial burden she bears as the family’s breadwinner and her feelings of guilt.
After returning home, Eun Ga-eun and Park Hyun-ho experienced a subtle tension due to their differing spending values. The conflict came to a head when Park Hyun-ho, who had received a mobile wedding invitation from an acquaintance he’d recently met, announced he would contribute 300,000 won as a wedding gift. When Eun Ga-eun pointed out the practical burden by asking, “How many diapers and cans of formula could 300,000 won buy for Seo-won?” Park Hyun-ho—who has always valued personal connections—retreated from the conversation, saying, “My pride is hurt.”
Following the conflict, Eun Ga-eun visited her in-laws’ home with her daughter. She confided the full story and the underlying reasons behind the couple’s argument to her mother-in-law—with whom she’s so close that they usually talk three or four times a day—and upon hearing the story, the mother-in-law immediately took her daughter-in-law’s side. The mother-in-law called her son, Park Hyun-ho, to offer some stern advice, serving as a steadfast ally for her daughter-in-law.
After returning home following his mother-in-law’s mediation, Park Hyun-ho reflected on his behavior and offered a playful apology, and Eun Ga-eun also brought the conflict to a cheerful conclusion.
Eun Ga-eun said, “I felt lucky to have such a wonderful mother-in-law, and seeing my husband’s efforts made me realize I need to do better myself.” Park Hyun-ho also pledged, “I will act more responsibly as the head of the household and strive to be a wise husband.”
