[Edaily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] CellTree, a cord blood bank brand operated by MEDIPOST CO., LTD.(078160), announced on the 3rd that it is hosting an online event titled “Top 3 Must-Have Items for Childbirth” for expectant parents.

This event was designed to help expectant parents more easily understand the preparations needed during pregnancy and childbirth. Its core focus is to introduce key stages of childbirth preparation—such as fetal insurance in early pregnancy, postpartum care centers during the second trimester, and the storage of umbilical cord blood and tissue before delivery—and to provide relevant information.

Participants can join the event on CellTree’s official website. After reviewing childbirth preparation items via AI, participants can watch a video featuring the experiences and medical evidence of an obstetrician who has preserved umbilical cord blood and tissue.

The event is being held simultaneously on the CellTree website and at partner obstetrics and gynecology clinics nationwide. Through a random drawing, prizes including umbilical cord blood and tissue storage services worth up to 9.2 million won and childbirth gift sets will be awarded. In collaboration with Dong-A Otsuka, a giveaway of “Pocari Sweat Ion Water” for expectant mothers is also being held at partner hospitals nationwide and at baby fairs.

Umbilical cord blood and tissue are vital biological resources that can only be collected once at the time of birth. Umbilical cord blood, which contains hematopoietic stem cells, is used to treat blood disorders, while umbilical cord tissue, rich in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), is currently being researched for tissue regeneration and regenerative medicine.

Last March, MEDIPOST CO., LTD. launched Korea’s first storage service for stem cells derived from umbilical cord tissue. The company explained that demand for storing both umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord tissue has been increasing following the recent amendment to the Advanced Regenerative Medicine Act.

A CellTree representative stated, “Since umbilical cord blood storage is a decision that can only be made once at the time of birth, it is important to make a careful decision based on explanations from medical professionals and medical evidence,” adding, “We will continue to provide accurate information so that expectant parents can properly prepare for childbirth.”
