[Edaily Reporter kyoungeun kim ] SKTelecom is trading higher in early trading on the 4th amid expectations surrounding a government-led artificial intelligence (AI) project.
According to MP Doctor, as of 9:21 a.m. today, SKTelecom(017670)is trading at 89,600 won, up 9.27% from the previous trading day.

Interest is focusing on SKTelecom, a participating company, as the “Independent AI Foundation Model (Dokpamo) Project”—which the government is promoting with the goal of securing AI technology ranked among the global “Top 10”—enters its second evaluation round this week. With all participating development teams having completed their final model submissions, the three teams advancing to the finals are expected to be determined later this month.
SKTelecom, having already submitted its model early last month, is taking on the challenge of driving AI transformation in both daily life and industrial settings with its ultra-large model “A.dot X K2,” which features an expanded number of parameters compared to the first evaluation.
The submitted models will be evaluated by a panel of 200 citizens selected by the government based on gender and age quotas. From the 8th to the 11th, the panel will directly experience the AI models from the four teams and assign scores using an absolute evaluation method; these scores will be combined with the results of existing benchmark evaluations and expert reviews. The results of the second round of evaluations, which will select three teams out of the four, are expected to be announced as early as the 12th.
The news of the launch of the “AIDC Alliance,” in which SKTelecom is participating, is also seen as having had a positive impact on investor sentiment. The AIDC Alliance is a public-private partnership organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and hosted by the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), andKoreaInformation&Communication Technology Promotion Association (KAIT). It was established to implement the AI data center sector of the “Three Major Mega-Projects for Korea’s Great Leap Forward,” announced last June, and is composed of subcommittees for demand, supply, and infrastructure, as well as an Export and Industrialization Task Force (TF).
Major domestic information and communications technology (ICT) and cloud companies, including SKTelecom, Naver Cloud, Samsung SDS, and LGELECTRONICS, are participating in the Alliance. The participating companies plan to support the demonstration of domestically produced equipment and solutions and the establishment of commercial references, while also promoting the localization of core technologies and expansion into overseas markets.
