After graduating from Seoul Science High School, CTO Kim earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California (USC), and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University. During his Ph.D. program, he researched medical imaging technology—particularly signal processing for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment—and built expertise in medical device technology.
He subsequently worked at a global consulting firm, SamsungElectronics’ Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, and the medical AI startup VUNO, Inc. During this time, he led efforts to formulate technology strategies, improve research and development (R&D) processes, establish global partnerships, and commercialize medical AI solutions, thereby accumulating experience ranging from technology development to clinical application, regulatory approval, and commercialization.
With the appointment of CTO Kim, CLASSYS Inc. plans to expand the development of next-generation products and services that integrate AI, software, and data with its existing energy-based aesthetic medical device technology.
In particular, CTO Kim is set to lead the development of innovative next-generation products by integrating AI technology with CLASSYS Inc.’s accumulated expertise in energy-based aesthetic medical devices (EBD) and its vast clinical and procedural data. The plan is to systematically incorporate feedback from medical professionals and key opinion leaders (KOLs) in major markets into the R&D process.
The company is also pushing to establish a world-class R&D system. Drawing on CTO Kim’s experience in innovating R&D systems at organizations such as the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, the company plans to rapidly implement CEO Yoon’s “Global Standard System Management” within the R&D organization.
Meanwhile, this personnel appointment is part of a broader effort to strengthen the management team following CEO Yoon’s appointment. In his inaugural address, CEO Yoon—a former vice president at SamsungElectronics—outlined a growth strategy to transform CLASSYS Inc. from a simple medical device manufacturer into a global aesthetic medical device company providing AI-, software-, and data-driven products and services.
CLASSYS Inc. official stated “While CEO Yoon Jun-oh has achieved remarkable results during Samsung’s growth by combining an engineer’s technical expertise with a strategist’s global perspective, CTO Kim Taek-soo is someone who has directly executed R&D processes and technological innovation at the heart of Samsung—the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology,” adding, “The synergy between these two leaders will greatly contribute to CLASSYS Inc.’s leap forward as a top-tier global company that redefines the paradigm of the global aesthetic industry.”
