[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] Director Christopher Nolan’s new film, *The Odyssey*, topped the advance ticket sales charts today, its opening day, signaling a strong box office performance.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 5th, “The Odyssey” topped the charts with 544,954 advance tickets sold as of 10:01 a.m., accounting for 47.4% of total advance ticket sales.
“Spider-Man: A Brand-New Day,” which has been dominating the box office by holding the No. 1 spot for a week since its release, took second place with 386,718 advance ticket sales. Third place went to the animated film “Love’s Hachuping: The Legend of the Whale Jewel.”
“The Odyssey,” opening on the 5th, is the latest film from director Christopher Nolan, whose previous works—including “Interstellar,” “Dunkirk,” “Tenet,” and “Oppenheimer”—have drawn over 36 million viewers in South Korea alone. It has garnered particular attention as the first film in cinematic history to be shot entirely with IMAX film cameras.
The film depicts the journey of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), the hero who led the Greek forces to victory in the decade-long Trojan War, as he sets out to return to his wife Penelope (played by Anne Hathaway) and his son Telemachus (played by Tom Holland). This epic journey—featuring vast natural landscapes, endless voyages, large-scale battles, trials by the gods, and unimaginable hardships—majestically captures human will, destiny, and the meaning of homecoming.
