IVISIONWORKS CO.,LTD. plans to develop wafer inspection equipment that improves speed while maintaining detection accuracy. The company aims to complete a Proof of Concept (POC) in the second half of this year and finalize a prototype for customer evaluation in the first half of next year.
Currently, the wafer inspection equipment market is experiencing rapid growth as semiconductor demand surges due to the explosive expansion of the global AI ecosystem. Wafer inspection equipment is a key component for detecting defects that occur during the fine-processing stage, directly impacting semiconductor yield and productivity. In particular, for semiconductor production lines operating 24 hours a day, not only detection performance but also improved production efficiency through reduced inspection time is considered a major competitive advantage.
Accordingly, the company plans to redesign its inspection equipment based on a high-sensitivity optical system and enter the wafer inspection equipment sector. Currently, the market is dominated by global companies such as KLA Tencor of the U.S. and Hitachi High-Tech of Japan. IVISIONWORKS CO.,LTD.’s strategy is to secure new business opportunities by introducing products that are competitive in terms of detection capability and inspection speed, leveraging its accumulated precision optical technology.
CEO Gil Ki-jae stated, “Although the semiconductor inspection equipment market has high technical barriers to entry, we have determined that now is the right time to enter the market based on our technological capabilities, and we are focusing our company-wide resources on this effort.” He added, “The company plans to secure growth momentum by joining the AI supercycle through measures such as enhancing our partnership ecosystem and commercializing our solutions through alliances with semiconductor equipment manufacturers.”
