The film “Gyeongju Trip” is a family revenge drama about four mothers and daughters who, after eight years of waiting, embark on a “killer” trip for the sake of their youngest daughter, “Gyeongju,” who never returned from her school field trip.
In the film, Park So-dam plays Young-joo, the second-eldest sister, who is armed with realistic logic and sharp facts. Young-joo is the second of Ok-sil’s (played by Lee Jung-eun) four children and is a law school graduate who was once the family’s greatest hope. Although she is now unemployed, having given up on the bar exam and spending her days watching the ups and downs of the cryptocurrency market, her sharp mind remains as sharp as ever, making her the sole mastermind behind this family revenge plot.
Although Young-ju believes her mother’s reckless plan makes no sense, she acts as a strategist, meticulously crafting an airtight alibi. Park So-dam portrays Young-ju’s sense of helplessness and cool-headedness with her signature intense acting style.

Director Kim Mi-jo said of Park So-dam, “‘Yeong-ju’ is a lonely character with a loner streak, and Park So-dam was the only actress who could perfectly embody her. Her thorough analysis dominated the set, sending shivers down my spine.”
Park So-dam expressed her affection, saying, “After countless conversations with the director and fellow actors, it felt as if we were a real family in a past life.” She added, “Every moment of acting was so enjoyable—it felt like I had gone back to the early days of my debut,” drawing attention.
“Gyeongju Journey” is the first commercial film by Director Kim Mi-jo, whose directing skills were recognized with her debut film “The Seagull.” Notably, the film received critical acclaim at the 24th Florence Korean Film Festival held last March and was honored with the Audience Award. It opens on the 26th.
