[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] TEO, the production company led by PD Kim Tae-ho, is launching a new-concept dating reality show centered on the theme of “office worker blind dates.”
“Pursuit of Casual Encounters,” which premieres on the 13th via TEO’s YouTube channel, is a practical, customized “company-arranged dating” program designed for career-minded professionals. Designed for working professionals who seek genuine connections despite their busy schedules, the show arranges new encounters that reflect realistic criteria and personal preferences. Six single men and women in their 20s and 30s—representing their respective companies in a “company-versus-company” format—will appear to share their real-life couple-matching stories. Amid a flood of dating shows, “Samanchu” is also generating anticipation for its unique selling points. As dating cultures—such as rotation blind dates and singles’ parties—that allow people to get to know each other efficiently in a short time have recently gained attention, “Samanchu” reflects this trend by offering customized matchmaking based on the common ground of being office workers. The show aims to facilitate more efficient yet genuine connections based on verified information and realistic criteria. In particular, starting with the first episode—which features a 3-on-3 meeting between the “Samjeonix” men and women—new concepts will be introduced each episode, promising a unique kind of entertainment distinct from existing dating shows. Dindin will serve as the host. Joining him as co-hosts are Choi Mi-na and Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, who will watch over the participants’ interactions alongside Dindin, adding plenty of entertainment. A teaser video released ahead of the broadcast sparks curiosity by showcasing the fast-paced lunch dates of office workers and introducing the clear concept of “Company Dating.” As the show promises a new venue for meeting people tailored to office workers who struggle to find time for romance amid their busy work lives, anticipation is high with the appearance of clients boasting unprecedented credentials—from S Electronics and H-Nix employees to doctors and lawyers. The following scenes tease the single men and women’s unabashed flirting, drawing intense attention. While the show candidly captures office workers’ realistic views on dating and their honest conversations, an unexpected remark—“You earn 1 billion won but spend 900 million?”—prompts Dindin to quip, “Is this Samsung-style flirting?” eliciting laughter. The production team of “Samanchu” stated, “We planned a special format called ‘Customized Lunch Dates’ for office workers who want to find meaningful connections even amidst their busy daily lives,” adding, “Through dates with different concepts each episode, the office workers’ honest and bold flirting, and unpredictable chemistry, we will deliver a sense of excitement and dopamine unlike any other dating show.” Meanwhile, the production of dating shows has been on the rise in the broadcasting industry recently. Formats are also diversifying, including ‘Mo-sol N Dol-sing’ featuring lifelong singles and divorcees, ‘My Remaining Love’ starring men and women who have lived with a terminal illness, and ‘Group Blind Date,’ where mothers and their children appear together to find romantic partners. Curiosity is mounting about what kind of entertainment ‘Sammanchu,’ a blind dating show for office workers, will offer. The show will premiere on August 13 at 6:00 p.m. on the TEO YouTube channel.
